Purchased a brand new sears freezer Its been running for20 hrs

I just had a Sears Kenmore 7.02 cu ft freezer installed in my home.I thought that it would shut off after 4 or 5 hours of operation but. its been running 20 straight hours and has not shut off yet.I called Sears and they told me that this was quite normal and to give it 24 hour to reach its freezing level. I manually shut it off and it came back on after 5 min.Any suggestions?

the freezer shut off after 20 hours of continual operation.Came back on an hour later and ran again for 20 hours is this normal? the sears tech said that it is normal for this model to run a lot.Is it because they do not use freon anymore.

My 19.6 cu ft Kenmore upright freezer only has model #31205. I've lost the key. Can I get another with just the above number?

Kenmore is a Sears product line. Contact Sear service. It is most likely that these locks are fairly generic in nature by brand. Your lock won't be unique.

Kenmore 6.9 cu. ft. chest freezer stopped working

It looks like a bad ignition switch or capacitor. This is not that expensive. Probably not the compressor. Unfortunately, one small part stops the whole show.have a friend who is a tech look at it.

13 months old Kenmore compressor very hot.

lacdoi,
huuum At your service!

You said,
The warranty just ran out, Sears came out told me needs a control board ($210 for just labor to replace) not sure about part price. I though a new freezer is about twice his labor and parts, so I sent him away minus $65.
I did some troubleshooting today, pull the plug for 2 days. Plug it in, temp alarm goes on all the time. Turn alarm off, left the freezer running for 4hrs.
Not cold at all, some cool air. Fan is on, compressor is on (can hear humming noise and is vibrating). Compressor is very hot to the touch, could burn finger.
Should I call Sears again, wonder how much to fix all the problem? Or just give up, look for another brand new one (not Kenmore).

MY ADVICE:
Sounds like a big repair bill and multiple problems

How old is the appliance?

If the appliance is 10 years old or more you may not be advisable to put good money into bad!
New appliance are so much more efficient today that they can save you a lot of money in energy!!!!
Replace it.

You will be fine

Bless You huuum

Kenmore 14.8 cft - temperature between 5 and -22 degrees (-15 and -30 C)

Big...this is likely normal. I'm not sure where you're measuring that temp from. If it is the fan outlet, this is possible. The fact that the unit is staying below 5 degrees means that it is within spec. You do have a warranty. Ask Sears to come on in and check it out.

Your 'duty cycle'...that amount of time that the compressor is on should be about 20% of a unit of time...say 25 minutes out of 2 hours. Is that about right? If so, enjoy your ice cream.
