I have checked that all ISP criteria agree with the router data and the wiring etc. Howver the router will not connect to the internet via the router but when I reconnect my speedtouch modem via the USB port it works OK as before. I have a SpeedTouch ADSL connection with a filter on it and this is set as the default connection.
The network adapter is ASUSTeK/Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller Resource.
CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I BOOT UP. THEN I LOSE THE CONNECTION AND CANNOT GET IT BACK WHATEVER PROCEDURE I TRY. AM GETTING A GOOD SIGNAL FROM MY CABLE AS ALL MY TV'S AND MY PHONE SYSTEM WORKS FINE. MY ROUTER, THE PARKERVISION 1500, SEEMS TO BE WORKING OK , AS ALL THE PROPER LIGHTS ARE LIT,BUT AM NOT SURE IF THIS SIGNAL MAX OR THE ROUTER IS THE PROBLEM. WHEN I CLICK ON THE ICON ON THE BOTTOM OF MY SCREEN, IT SAYS THE SIGNAL IS STRONG AND I AM CONNECTED, BUT I STILL CANNOT GET ON THE INTERNET.CAN CONNECT TO THE INTERNET ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN I BOOT UP. Re: Wireless router does not connect to the internet
Try to check if the ip of modem is the same as of router , if so change router , example : if both work on 192.168.1.1 than change router to 192,168.3.1 this might solve the problem , it did for me .
Re: Wireless router does not connect to the internet
Just want to make sure that you are resetting the modem when you switch connection methods. Many times the modem is unable to sense the change and will not provide an IP after a change. If you have not done so please unplug the modem after you switch cables and plug it back in.
Also, if it does not work, go to start , run and type in cmd. Hit enter and type in ipconfig. Post the results here.

Here are the recommended steps to connect to a wireless base router 1. Check and remove power from both your router and the DSL ROUTER/CABLE ROUTER MODEM 2. Wait one complete minute until applying power to modem then wait one minute before applying power to wireless router. 3. Ensure you have green lights across both devices, specifically, the recieved and sent lights. These same lights will tend to blink rapidly when there is active data, at times this will still blink, and a DNS error will prevent you from connecting to the internet. If this is the case, call your ISP Internet service provider 4. Check your authentication Security key on your router first, then check all your wireless devices to ensure they are on the same network name, key, and channel with the same type of encryption as the router 5. Start one device at a time and check for connectivity, if your still experiencing a problem, check the settings on all your wireless adapters, device drivers, internet browser settings, firewalls and proceed. 6. still have problems, connect a rj45 cable from the router directly to your computer to at least see if your wireless settings are bad or if the router may be bad. 7. Contact your ISP to determine if your receiving singal 8. Avoid using a splitter or parital power backup for yours routers 9. Still having problems, change your wireless router only after your ISP changes their faulty modem 10.Attempt the same process when setting up your new wireless router and or modem

You need a cat 5 ethernet cable that goes from the uplink port to the router. The rest is wireless. Most routers offer cat 5 ports where you can plug a computer in. Dont use a telephone wire ... telephone wire is RJ 11 - you need a RJ-45 caat 5 cable. They look similar.
BTW, most wireless runs at about 10 - while wire runs at 100 or 1000.
You will need to run the wizard on your computer to detect ... and/or load the software that came with the router.
It could be your router is becoming intermittent, but also your ISP connection could be dropping and not resetting properly. I have this issue occasionally and it is the ISP generally dropping my connection. Only way to test is to try a known good router and see if it corrects the problem. With data speeds increasing it is getting more difficult for the ISP to provide reliable service especially over ADSL. I went 5 years without EVER resetting my ISP connection, then started having increasing difficulties with my connection in the past 3-4 years due to higher data rates being introduced.
If u r inside a wireless network and internet is ok, u will able to ping both the wireless router gateway and modem gateway. If u cant ping the modem gateway, u can try connect the modem directly to your pc, and test again. U need to make sure the modem is OK, and able to connect to internet. Then only u move to check router. This is due to very often internet access having problem.
Hi, what ISP are you using (aol,tiscali...?), and how are you connecting to the router? Wired or wireless? I had similar problems with mine, it wouldn't connect or would drop connection, or loose all the settings. I updated the firmware to the latest from here:-
http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/WGR614v6.asp
Be sure this is the correct model as firmware differes from model to model.
Then I had to manually configure my ISP settings etc. Or you may have software from your ISP which configures for you.
Hope this helps.
While you have the router connected to your modem, try unplugging the modem and plugging it back in. This will force the modem to redetect network connections.
