How do I loosen the front shocks on the mongoose ledge

Mongoose full-suspension mountain bikes, like the Ledge 3.1, have a little bit of height adjustment for the handle bars. See the manual at https://www.mongoose.com/pages/product-manuals . Start at page 18 (20 of the manual in the browser) and determine the type of stem on your version of the bike. The quill stem version has minimum insertion marks that must be below the top of the headset and not visible. For the threadless stem version of the mountain bike, you adjust where the handlebars clamp onto the steerer tube. However, this is very imited since there should be only 1/8" to 3/16" gap between the top of the handlebar stem and the steerer (stem) tube. The is where the top cap and bolt to replaced on the handlebar stem and thread into the steerer tube.

Understanding Sag
In order to let the suspension work properly, we allow some of the rear-wheel travel to be used when supporting the rider's weight, this is called 'sag'. The basic idea is to have around 10-20% of your bike's total travel as sag. This allows the rear wheel to drop into dips in the trail and maintain contact and traction.

Adjusting Sag on Rear Suspension
Changing the amount of sag in the rear suspension is done by increasing or decreasing the spring rate of the rear shock. The rear shock's body is threaded and you will notice there is a nut on one end of the spring. Turning the nut in the direction that compresses the spring will increase the spring rate and reduce the amount of sag. Turning the nut in the direction that expands the spring will decrease the spring rate and increase the amount of sag. Never turn the nut to the point where there is space between it and the spring, this may cause damage to the shock.

No, you cannot add disc rotors to a non-disc wheel, and in any case the rear wheel does not do much of the braking work.

Get the kind that has a lever shift instead of the grip shifter. The plastic part that holds the spring breaks easily. The lever shifter has been going strong on my bike for 6 years without a problem

Its usually a bad freewheel. Its a complex operation to replace, contact local bike shop for assistance

Measure the threads on the crank. Use or borow a pair of calipers. Measure with two threads as the outside edges to get proper diameter.

Not all front suspension forks are adjustable, but if yours is, you should find adjusting nuts on the shocks. Check with the manufacturer if in doubt.

Change the spring to your load.

i dont think you can......because these bikes are made for confort at a cheap price..........

higher value bikes can be adjusted....they have special shocks and you can adjust on either soft or stiff ride.....
