When i configured my dlink dsl-2640T adsl modem/router with two ip addresses, router nat primary range but did not perform nat on secondry range, my primary range is 172.16.20.5/224 and secondry range is 172.16.20.46/240 what should i do???

connect your computer to one of the LAN(wired) ports of router...
check the ip address and default gateway of your local area connection
through control panel > network connections.... if you get the ip
adress in the range of dlink router then try going to start > run
> type "cmd" and hit enter >command prompt will appear... in
command prompt type this
start iexplore(default gateway address) and hit enter...you will see the settings page of your modem.... go ahead and disable firewall and enable dmz for your ip address... also forward the ports that are necessary for your gaming device...
This may happen due to double NAT issue....
the DSL modem might give an IP address in the range of belkin route....that is 192.168.2.X
check for the ip address when the computer is directly connected to the DSL modem...
now check for the IP adress when the Belkin alone is connected to the computer....
if they both give an IP adress like this 192.168.2.X......(X can be any value)
then you will face the above issue.....
in that case you can login to router and change the IP address of belkin router from 192.168.2.X to 192.168.15.X
this will resolve the issue
Or to configure without the cd follow the steps below:
Connect the Adsl router with your computer.
Use the network cable provided with the router.
Connect the power cable to the modem, it will light on firmly with a green button on.
Open your web browser and type the ip address: http://10.1.1.1
Default username and password is:
User-name: admin
Password: admin
Use the quick setup wizard.
It will be more easy for you to configure it.
Be sure to have the username and password from the ISP for the internet access, you may need to reconfigure it from start. or if you may need to reset the modem
At times to access your modem you will need to set the ip of your network card to the same range.
To set the ip go in control panel then open network connection

I'm not sure I'm getting the full picture here but your router should offer a wider range of IP addresses than you indicate. Go into your router set up. Type the routers IP address in the address bar of your browser (it should be 192.168.1.1). If you get a sign in box, I believe the default is "admin" "admin" for user name and password if you have not changed them. If not, check with dlink web site. Once into the menu, you should be able to change the address range of IP addresses for the routers DHCP server OR you can use static IP addresses.
This will give you a "Double NAT" setup. Meaning, Your D-Link router is connected to the external internet address assigned to you by your internet service provider. More than likely this is a DHCP address you do not control. Your D-Link router is then translating the address to the 192.168.1.x network. This is the first NAT translation. You are then connecting the ASUS router to DLINK, causing a second NAT translation. (Internet ADSL --> D-Link WAN Port --> D-Link Lan Port --> ASUS WAN Port --> ASUS Lan Port to computer/server/etc. ) If both of your routers are giving out DHCP addresses, then this is all that is required.
first you have to check the ip address of the dsl modem you used and see to it that it is not the same ip address of the router to avoid conflict. the default ip address of dlink router is 192.168.0.1.if in case your dsl modem has the same ip address with the router, you have to change firs the ip address of the router before connecting the router to your dsl modem.
next you need to know your internet connection whether it is DYNAMIC or PPPOE, depending on how your internet provider configured your modem. for PPPOE connection, you have to know the USERNAME and PASSWORD that your provider provides you.

Yes, you can use wireless router with the modem. I guess the actiontech DSl router that you have is also Wireless one. If so, you can use just the DSL router for wireless connection. If you really want to use Dlink router with it, Connect the ( WAN port ) of the Dlink router to the ( LAN Port ) of the Action tech modem [ modem(LAN)-->Dlink(WAN) ]. Once you do this connection, better to do power cycle ( unplug the pwr to the dlink first, then, disconnect the pwr to action tech - wait 1min and plug the pwr to modem, wait for DSL light to be solid , then put the pwr back to dlink ). Make sure DSL light on the modem solid, internet light & WLAN light on the link glowing. - Make Hardwire connection between the computer to Dlink and check the ip address on the computer whether it acquires the ip address from Dlink and then check the internet connection on the computer, it has to work. if computer not getting ip from dlink, try restarting computer. - If hardwire connection on the dlink works fine and check the wireless connection.
