I have an Orion TV that today suddenly turned off by itself. Upon turning the TV back on, it now has no sound. The picture has also been bleached of its colour and skewed towards the bottom right hand corner. Any help would be great. Thanks.

My TV did the same thing today. My red light blinks 6 times. Any help would be much appreciated!

The problem is a $1.09 part. You will need a soldering gun,
multimeter, etc.. Or someone else who is electronically inclined.
The fix for it is here:
http://www.instructables.com/id/Dell-W5001C-50quot-plasma-fix/
I have the 46" Dell model with the same problem and this fixed it. Part cost $1.09 plus shipping.
I can't take credit for this persons post so post thanks on fix.
Just note, TV's can hold electricity even after being unplugged. So if
you try this keep that in mind. You shouldn't mess with it until an
hour or so after you unplug it. Or google "discharging capacitors" to
discharge the electricity from the power board. Attempt at your own
risk.
SOURCE: Emerson EWL20D6 TV turns on and the picture goes right back off
Mine is doing the same thing. I talked with a local repair guy over the phone and he says that (obviously) something is malfunctioning in the TV and a sensor shuts it off to minimize the damage to other components. This would be ok if the TV were 20 years old (they used to last that long); however, mine is only 1 1/2 years old and Emerson couldn't give a damn that the TV is a piece of ****. Silly Mimi
SOURCE: tv keeps switching itself off
When that happens - try unplugging the tv for a few minuets & plug it back in.. Sometimes it will reset its self.. Or it could be a bad sercut or maybe a falty power suply.. Electronics is usually process of illimination - unfortunately..

Most likely your powerboard. Inside those are capacitators that are known to "pop". They have been widely used in many newer tv/monitor units since around '97 I believe. Anyway, Some problems with these things are a little harder to figure out, but a problem that shows a light(flashing/blinking/on for while/off for while) is to my new found knowledge a bad capacitor or 2 in your powerboard. I found a 19" lcd monitor that didnt come on, but the power light is on. I bummed then googled it and found this to be a VERY common problem! I watched a video on youtube how to fix your monitor and openend mine. I found 1 bad capacitator(bad caps show a buldging top and/or fluid leaking from them. one trip to Radioshack and $1.59 The problem was fixed! A rapair man woul;d order your board, install it and charge you around $300 or more. You could change your board yourself(saves money) or you could open your unit and inmspect it yourself first, your fix could be $5 or less!....There are many pic etc to be found on google image for "popped" capacitaotrs(caps), also there are video's on how to replace them on youtube...I hope this helps some!
