When I start mowing the belt slips off the pulleys (blade belt) most of the time it does it in the very beginning when the blades are engaged but a couple times it has gone for about 5 min. the spring always comes off too.

Does your mower have an electric clutch ? If so your problem is most likely a connection

Tim, first turn key on engage and disengage blade button. See if you can hear the clutch making a clicking noise. If not check switch., if not your problem is in the clutch.

A FEW THINGS TO LOOK AT ARE ,1THE PULLY SHIELDSMAKE SURE THEY AREN'T BENT TO CLOSE TO THE PULLEY'S.2 THE PULLEY BEARING'S MAY BE WORE OUT AND TO BREAK .3LOOK UNDER THE DECK TO MAKE SURE YOU DIDN'T GET SOMETHING TRAPED IN THE CUTTING DECK.HOPE THIS HELPED.

Does the lever that engages the blades have pressure on or does it feel loose. It is possible that the linkage from the lever to the idler pulley has come off. Raise the hood and watch the lever as it is engaged and disengaged there shold be somekind of linkage moving a pulley in and out to tighten the belt so the blades will turn. hpope this helps
