I have photos files etc in my pen drive of Kingston DT 101 G2, what do i have to do to run ur Drive to see my files and photos ? can some one help me? thanks, Janaka

Insert the pen drive into USB port, then open My Computer. You will see some drives. Hard disk drives, CD Room drives, and removable media drives. Example: Your hard disk (drive C, D, E), CD Room (drive F), Removable media (drive G). So, each time you insert a tool such as pen drives, memory cards, etc, you can see it on drive G.

To view the data pen drive, double click My Computer, click the drive G. If you want to move files from pen drive to your hard disk, open the drive G, block all files, copy and paste to drive C / D / E.

I have a Galaxy Metal Gear Box. It will house two hard drives. It refuses to post the second drive. I just put a brand new one in it. Same result. Rocky

If both drives are SATA (not "parallel-ATA") drives, then "swap" the physical location of the two drives, to see if only the "top" (or the "bottom") drive is NEVER detected. Or, if the "detected" drive moves after the drives are swapped, then the non-detected drive has a problem. In that case, remove the "good" drive, to see if the "bad" drive can be detected when it is the only active drive.

How to unlock a sandisk cruzer usb flash card 16 gb

If you cannot open your usb drive, you will need to open your drive management. Sometimes, drive letters that the usb drive looks for, usually F, G or H, are taken by other drives. You can change drive letters on other network drives to different letters, therefore, allowing the usb drive to access the letters it is looking for, and effectively, unlocking it. Below are directions on using the Disk management utility in windows:

Disk management utility will help you see all the drives that are connected to your computer, including internal hard drives, CD or DVD Drives, and removable storage like USB sticks and external hard drives. Using this utility, you can check for attached drives that are not visible in windows when attached to your computer. You can also format drives, change drive letters, mark a partition as active and delete partitions. A word on caution about using the Disk Management Utility: This utility can cause destruction of data. If you are not sure of what you are looking at and uncomfortable with using this utility you should consult with an advanced user before making any changes to drives using this utility. Also, drive '0' is usually your main hard drive.

Right click on you "My Computer" Icon

A menu will open

Chose "Manage"

The Computer Management window will open

The Computer Management window is broken down into 3 sections.

The first section on the left side of the window shows a menu. Disk Management is on the lower portion of the menu.

The right side is separated into two sections, top and bottom. The top portion shows a list of active drives on the computer. The lower portion shows all drives connected to the computer. CD or DVD drives that have not disk will not show as active drives on the top section, but can be seen in the lower section.

The lower section will show the drive description, drive size and drive condition (online or off line) in small box on the left side of that section. Disk drives will designate a "Drive" and a number. Drive 0 is usually your internal hard drive. Then it would list drive 1, drive 2, etc, depending on how many internal and external drive sources you have connected to your computer. Then it will list your CD drives and generally show their drive letter assignments.

Next to the smaller section described above, is a larger section which shows the driver letter, size of the driver and condition (if working correctly will show "healthy")

This is the area you can right click and get a menu that will allow you to open, explore, mark the partition as active, change the driver letter, format the drive or delete a partition. (A note of caution here. Changing the driver letter on your main hard drive partition will cause windows to stop functioning. The main hard drive, or hard drive partition, is normally given the letter "C".) A hard drive may show two or more partitions with separate drive letters designated for each partition.

A drive this is having a problem may show that it needs to be formatted (status as Unformatted). This can be done from this window. An external drive, whether it is a hard drive or CD/DVD drive, can have the letter designator change done if you want to organize your external drives. There are times when a drive will not show up because the drive letter that they are programmed to use are taken. Most USB drives are programmed to us the letters "F" or "G". In this area, you can assign the USB drive any drive letter that is not being used and this will make it visible in windows.

Unable to access files

To access the files off the hard drive another way - remove the hard drive from the case and connect it to an USB hard drive adapter and then plug it into a working computer's USB port. If the computer see the hard drive as an external hard drive/storage device and you can open the folders and files then backup your data. This also indicated the hard drive is OK and the Western Digital case/electronics is faulty.
To use this as an external USB hard drive, put the hard drive in an USB adapter case.

Want to remove wd2500 drive from HDD enclosure and

OK your hard drive is an ATA drive.
You motherboard will have two hard disk controllers, on the 1st controller the ATA cable will have two connectors - a connector will have the C drive hard disk attached to it and the jumper on the hard drive will be set as the Master drive. You may also have a CD or DVD drive connected to this cable, if so then the CD or DVD drive will be jumpered as a Slave drive.
If the second connector does not have a drive connected, then you can connect the second hard drive to this connector BUT it needs to be jumpered as a Slave drive.
You may elect to connect the second hard drive to the second IDE controller instead on the first controller. If there aren't any drives on the second ATA cable then the second hard drive can be jumpered as either a Master or Slave drive.
If there is a drive on the second ATA cable you need to determine the jumper setting of that drive and then set the jumper on the second hard drive to a different setting. BOTH drives on the same cable CANNOT have the same drive setting.
After installing the second hard drive, check the BIOS configuration of the second hard drive, if the hard drive is detected then when Windows boots up you will see the hard drive and its contents.

How to make Seagate ST3200822AS 200 GB Hard Drive

If you are using the drives in a fairly new computer, the drives have a setting called "cable select" If these are EIDE drives, then they have jumpers on a set of pins on the power side of the drive. Look on the drive and use the power plug as a reference for how the jumper fits on the pins to make the drive "cable select" and what that means is the drive will conform to which cable is plugged into it. If you have the slave cable plugged into the drive, that is how the motherboard will recognize it.
