No suction - Dyson vacuum

The DC14 has belts in the clutch that become stretched and lose elasticity. Even with great suction a vacuum will not clean well on carpet if the brush is not spinning fast enough.

DC40 is a powerful mid-size Dyson upright vacuums, and we wouldn't expect you to have any concerns about performance on hard flooring or carpet. As long as the machine is used and maintained as described in the User guide we would not anticipate a change in performance, and we're on hand to help if Dyson owners need assistance.

It's important to note that for effective pickup, the cleaner head needs to form a close seal with the floor surface. Simply placing a hand under the cleaner head does not give an accurate idea of suction as you're not creating a seal, as you would be when you place your hand right across the end of the wand or hose. If you turn on and recline the vacuum, turn off the brush bar then lower the cleaner head onto something like a sheet of newspaper, you should see the newspaper held tightly against the soleplate by the vacuum's powerful suction.

I have a Dyson and was having a similar problem some time back. I found out these bagless systems still have a filter that picks up the fine dust to keep it contained. Find out where yours is located and beat the dust out of it really good or just replace it.

Sounds like you have a tube misaligned. Take the tubes that lead to the filter off and put back on. Most likely the solution

I have made a video of the two most likely causes for lack of suction in the handle of your dyson DC07. Watch the video and see if it helps. The other thing to check is your washable filter, this can cause a big resuction in suction if dirty. If this is helpful take a moment to leave a testimonial or a thumbs up please.

Check for an obstruction. There are several cleanout ports built in to make this easier.

Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. It is very likely you have a problem in the radix assembly or the filter is actually worn out. Basically to test either simply remove one then turn it on to test. If it runs better with out the filter (washable is most likely culprit) simply purchase a new one. If it is the radix assembly that is the problem it is possible to clean inside the little tubes by taking off the top and literally clearing dirt and fluff out with the help of a coat hanger. Check the canister seal for dirt or gaps. This is normally where the vacuum leak is.

Turn the 3 plstic screws under the machine to unlock position & remove sole plate,
You can now see if belt has snapped & replace it.
