No Video but have Audio

I have a Dynex flat screen. There is a cabel box and a DVD player plugged into it. When I turn it on, the black screen gets slightly brighter, as if there was a signal getting to it. I see the words "Please Wait" briefly display on the screen and then the screen goes completely black as if the TV was shut off. I can hear the audio, change channels and hear audio from them but no video.

I found my product manual and called the Tech Support line. They said it was a problem with the display and would have to schedule and appointment to fix it.

Testimonial: "That's what I ended up doing. Luckily it was still under warranty and I was able to get them to swap the screen for free. "

No sound on tv

Do you have the old cable box? If so plug it in, or better yet, did the old cable box connect to the TV the same way the new one does. Did you just upgrade to HD?
Or if you have a DVD player or something to get a signal to the TV as a test, will eliminate the TV as the problem. It might even be an adjustment in the settings to allow audio to go down the HDMI cable. Some boxes its switchable.

We are trying to hook up a samsung flat screen TV, a sony home theater system, direct tv box, and a panasonic DVD to the dynex component video converter box. Which cable goes where

We can't make assumptions. Did you set it up in accordance with the manuals?

Without specific details...

In general, ins go to outs; compatible connectors need no modification.

If you have an HDTV and HD Satellite I don't think you want to be tying the video quality down to S-Video.

There are two signals to consider here. Video and Audio. TV's are expert at Video and A/V Receivers are expert at Audio, so each should get first crack at the specialty for which it is designed.

HDMI or Component Video (Red, Green and Blue RCA cables) are the best and ONLY ways you'll get Hi Def to the TV. If you route EACH HIGH DEF SOURCE'S VIDEO DIRECTLY to the TV (instead of through the receiver or a switch) the TV/monitor will receive the best video digital data.

Digital Audio from as close to the real source as possible (SAT Box, maybe) to the receiver.

Standard analog audio from the SAT box to the TV for watching lo-fi content like news and weather without the Sony HTS turned on.

Dynex dx-32l151a11 the picture is black and white with the dvd player

With a Black and White picture it sounds like you're trying to connect the DVD Player's "Composite" connection to the TV's Component Connection.

Composite is a 3 wire system with Yellow for the video, and red and white for the audio. On your TV this connection is located on the side.

Component is a 5 wire system, with Blue, Green & Red for Video, and Red and White for audio. On your TV this connection type is located on the rear panel.

Check to make sure you are hooking the DVD player & the TV to the same input types.

HI,
i think ur component video connection may inter changed. check it. are u connected red to red, green to green an blue to blue. if interchanged the picture will be black and white. also check the video system of ur tv and dvd.
about audio. for that u need a stereo rca chord. connect the audio output of ur dvd to the component audio input of ur tv. if u have already connected the audio cable , check the audio setup of ur dvd. there is selection for pcm audio select it and then check again.

I am having trouble making connections from my Dynex tv to a cable box, wii, and dvd player. I have the manual and still confused

Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.
