There should be a USB cable that came with the wheel that connects directly to the Xbox 360. Are referring to the Madcatz MC2? If so then you might be missing the USB cable connector? You can't modify the other inputs to feed into the Xbox 360. You need to use the cable that comes with the wheel.
Also, some games are not compatible with the wheel.
MadCatz Racing Wheel does not support devices with a USB plugged into a port specificly. This is of course if you're indeed using it. Also, some games will not support the MadCatz racing wheel directly. Many games are not designed to work with it. So check online for documentation on it.
You'll have to download the driver for the Steering Wheel onto that laptop, you can find it on Madcatz's website, madcatz.com. Just download the .EXE file and start it up, it will automatically begin installing the software onto your laptop that will allow you to use the steering wheel with it.
The MC2 wheel should have a wire with several connectors on the end. One of the connectors should be identical to a PS2 controller connector. Use this instead of the controller.
My MC2 did not work at first. It is not the wheels fault! PS2 steering wheels are powered, a fuse often goes out in the PS2. Regular controllers will work, but anything powered will not.
Controller rumble requires power as well. If the rumble no longer works on the controller then the wheel will not work either.
