may want to check the library in iTunes to make sure the files are there on your hard drive and on your iPod if the problem persists clear your library and make iTunes find your music in your hard drive again and try placing the music onto the device once more

How Do I Download Songs Onto My iPod Nano?
IPod Nanos are portable multimedia players that allow you to playback songs and other content (e.g. video) no matter where you go. They come in a variety of memory sizes such as 4GB or 16GB (gigabytes) and work with iTunes to upload songs. ITunes is the iPod default management program which allows you to upload songs to its library, create playlists and sync music on your iPod quickly and easily. Click "Select playlists, artists and genres" and select the playlist you created that contains the songs you want to upload. Click "Apply" to automatically sync and download the songs to your iPod Nano.
6Click the "Eject" button and disconnect your iPod from the computer.

Tips & Warnings
Click "Music Store" if you want to purchase a music file. Search for the song on the iTunes store and download it to the iTunes library.

If you open iTunes with the CD in the drive and click File - Add folder to library/Add file to library you should be able to find the CD containing the MP3's from there. This will then add them to your iTunes library and you can put them on your iPod by dragging them to your iPod when it is connected in iTunes.

An iPod can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. once you got a new iTunes library or a new computer. You have to authorize your iPod to it at first, then you can upload music and video from the new iTunes to your iPod. But this way will overwrite the originial files on iPod with the new iTunes. Apple, the maker of the Ipod, requires you to use "iTunes" software to upload, transfer, and buy songs for your iPod mini. The software installation cd should come with your iPod, if not, you can download it at www.apple.com then going to downloads.

first reset your Ipod from advanced settings.. Upload the library on Itunes from ur external HDD and try sync again.. it should work!

are you trying to copy music onto a cd disk or onto your ipod. If you are trying to copy music onto your ipod, you will have to clear the ipod of the music that was loaded onto it previously, because it will not detect your new settings on your laptop. An easy way to do this is copy over your itunes music folder onto cd/dvd from your old computer and paste the music into your itunes music folder on your laptop. When you open itunes go to file, import file, and choose your itunes music folder. (If it hasn't aready automatically picked the music up). This will put all of your music back into the itunes library. You will then need to create another playlist for your ipod. Reset your ipod in itunes mode and upload your new playlist onto it.
