I have the same exact problem , BUT I did a little trick and it worked somehow, the problem that I had is that : when you turned the headset off by pressing the power button. It won't really go off, you can still hear the sounds from your Xbox, even that the Xbox show you that its disconnected , there will be no logo for the headset when you press the Xbox button on the controller. Here is what I did to really turn it off. First you should adjust the "Master Volume " wheel to the end. I mean move it like you are decreasing the volume to the least. so there will be No SOUND. after that hold the power button, and it will really turn off this time , for real. Hope it worked for you :)
Check for buttons on the side of the phone. There should be an up and down button to change the volume either way. If that doesn't work look for setting and then sounds. From there, it should be possible to find a way to change the volume of the ringtone.
there are 2 buttons on the left hand side of the phone. press the top button to increas the volume...
there are 2 volumes you can adjust, the system volume and the ring volume. you may have to touch the "Ring" tab on the top right hand side of the screen to adjust the ring volume
Dell Vostro does not have an entertainment integrated speakers. These are just small speakers designed for basic usage. You may connect an external speakers.
For adjusting the volume, on the bottom right of your screen, beside the clock, click on the speaker icon and adjust the volume slide

This may resolve the problem. My Treo 755 stopped hotsync some time ago and then I noticed that the volume control side buttons had no effect. On suggestion from this site, I removed the battery for several minutes and then reinstalled it and the phone has returned to normal activity, hotsync-ing the first time and volume buttons working fine.
there may be some problems with your volume leveling. i have insalled programs that have come packed with FREE, that's right, FREE trojan horses, spy ware and other malware that love to mess with my volume levels. open volume control by double clicking on the volume control icon on the taskbar or going through control panel. mute any channels you don't use such as phone line. test. if that doesn't work, there may be an advanced button on the microphone volume control. click it. in the screen that appears, you might try checkig/unchecking the mic boost. -answer for windows xp. i dont have much experience with vista
