When brewing coffee, no coffee is produced and all of the water comes out of the steam wand instead. The beans grind like usual and the machine sounds like it's brewing through the cycle. The amount of water that comes out of the steam wand is the same amount that would be brewed coffee.

Hi,
The hot water dispensers in units such as yours are controlled by solenoids.
The unit then senses that there is something wrong, as there is no
water flowing. This tells the control card that the water system needs
to be primed/purged of air.
What you will need to do is access the interior of the unit and locate the solenoid that is at fault.
I
am sorry but there is no information available to help you do this
repair. Apparently DeLonghi wants you to take your unit to one of their
authorized service centers so that they can charge you too much to fix
it.
There is a consolation though. They will sell you the parts
to repair it. You will have to call the 800 number in your owners
manual, and know what part it is that you need.
I called them
just a few minuets ago and they actually were helpful. But as I am not
the owner they would not tell me the part number or anything more than
they did have the part in stock. They wouldn't even tell me if it was
actually a solenoid. Just that they were familiar with the part and it
was in stock. You should not have the same brick wall to knock down as
you are the owner of their product.
At this time DeLonghi is still maintaining propriety over the service
manuals for this unit if any even exist. There are people like myself
that don't need a manual to repair units like your espresso machine. The
only thing I would require is access to the repair parts.
Once
these units are made obsolete they may release the manuals. It depends
on whether they are still bringing in repairs to their authorized
centers.
In a nutshell they are not letting go if it makes them
money, or they might not even have one. That would depend on if they
have guys like me doing the repairs.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
