Delongi Magnifica EAM3400 won't brew coffee

When brewing coffee, no coffee is produced and all of the water comes out of the steam wand instead. The beans grind like usual and the machine sounds like it's brewing through the cycle. The amount of water that comes out of the steam wand is the same amount that would be brewed coffee.

SOURCE: I have a Delonghi Magnifica EAM3200 Expresso and

Hi,

The hot water dispensers in units such as yours are controlled by solenoids.
The unit then senses that there is something wrong, as there is no water flowing. This tells the control card that the water system needs to be primed/purged of air.

What you will need to do is access the interior of the unit and locate the solenoid that is at fault.
I am sorry but there is no information available to help you do this repair. Apparently DeLonghi wants you to take your unit to one of their authorized service centers so that they can charge you too much to fix it.

There is a consolation though. They will sell you the parts to repair it. You will have to call the 800 number in your owners manual, and know what part it is that you need.

I called them just a few minuets ago and they actually were helpful. But as I am not the owner they would not tell me the part number or anything more than they did have the part in stock. They wouldn't even tell me if it was actually a solenoid. Just that they were familiar with the part and it was in stock. You should not have the same brick wall to knock down as you are the owner of their product.

At this time DeLonghi is still maintaining propriety over the service manuals for this unit if any even exist. There are people like myself that don't need a manual to repair units like your espresso machine. The only thing I would require is access to the repair parts.

Once these units are made obsolete they may release the manuals. It depends on whether they are still bringing in repairs to their authorized centers.

In a nutshell they are not letting go if it makes them money, or they might not even have one. That would depend on if they have guys like me doing the repairs.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

My Delongi Magnifica Esam 3500 makes coffee and water runs from spout no problem but after coffee brew a load banging /clucking noise is heard. Any idea what it could be?

This particular machine ends up on Fixya 2 or 3 times a week. They are not reliable. 'Banging' my mean it needs descaling, the limescale make the water explode when heated on a limed element. Take it in for service or try descaling first.

Ascaso Dream espresso machine leaks steam out of the brew head when the steam wand function is on.

Hi,
Steam leaking from the group when the steam function is turned on:
This is normal - as there is a spring valve which stops the steam escaping normally, however if you are not using the steam wand - steam has to escape somewhere and is vented through the group.

It will not affect the steaming - but you are better to make coffee 1st and then steam the milk.
The new Dreams have endless steam - which is great for larger groups over for dinner .. When the steam button is switched off the extra steam will vent into the water tank - new models with solenoid. https://www.bluestarcoffee.eu/ascaso-dream-pid-4272-p.asp

Delonghi Magnifica 3300 doesn't make coffee, only wet grounds and water in the grounds container, everything else seems normal

Hi JB, not sure if you've junked your 3300 machine by now or had the problem fixed already. Nevertheless, allow me to share with owners of DeLonghi Magnifica Espresso machines who encounter similar problem to yours. Incidentally, mine is a Delonghi Magnifica 3200 which is very much the same as the 3300. Firstly, try to ascertain if the pump is working normally. When the machine is ready to brew coffee, turn ON the steam/hot water knob and see if it pumps normally and for more than 30secs at least. My machine could pump for short durations between 5secs to 20secs max before the water light came on. I checked the flow meter connection but is all seemed well. I noticed signs of water leak (dried up chalky water stains) where the steam wand exits the control panel. Upon opening up the control panel, I noticed a larger patch of dried up water stains on the wand valve assembly. Bought a set of steam wand assembly replacement and to replace the leaking one. It's been some six month now and I'm enjoying my daily cuppa again. Btw, my Delonghi Magnifica 3200 has been serving me well for 10 years! Apart from the steam wand replacement and a faulty micro-switch, I only had to carry out the usual descaling and replacing worn out O-rings.

No hot water or steam from wand.

If steam wand is not blocked then the problem is on the inside of the machine, try descaling the machine that might clear the blockage in the steam line.

Water ends up in the tray

Have you checked the brew group screen? I am assuming that this is a super automatic machine, and by pressing a button it grinds and brews? If yes then the only other problem would be in the brew unit.

Steam comes from wand when set to dispense water.

Check the connection to the boiler from the pump, there is no water going to the boiler. Try this test, remove the brew unit you will see a white plastic valve behind it, carefully lift the small lever on the valve(HOT WATER), if water sprays, then the problen is at the brew unit, if no water then the boiler inlet or outlet is clogged.

Steam wand shooting water instead of steam

You're supposed to wait for the blinking light to go solid before attempting to steam your milk!
Until then, the water isn't hot enough (it's at coffee-brewing temp, not steaming temp) to produce steam.
Further, after steaming, the water is too hot for coffee's correct brewing temp, and the light again blinks until it has cooled down enough, if you care.
