Trouble with back brakes/cable?

Hey, Local bike shop determined that both wheels were defective. I took the junk back to Walmart and got a refund... PROBLEM SOLVED!!

ray365m hows the rear brake shoes if you have rear drums if there good try adjusting the cables at the bottom of the (e) brake handle pull the boot back theres a 10mm nut to adjust

1st The brakes: Once you have ran the cable through appropriate cable holders and to the brakes-you hold the brake calipers shut-remove excess slack from cable by pulling on it with pliers and back off a little before tightening the nut holding the cable(amount you have to back off tension depends on how strait your wheel is).
The Front Derailer doesn't usually have adjustment so you put the gear lever in top gear-loosen the nut holding the cable-push the derailer into the right position-remove slack from cable with pliers then tighten the nut.
The Rear Derailer: will need to be done the same way if your running a new cable..*But there is a screw on the derailer near the junction of the 2 parts that adjusts the position of the derailer- so you can do minor adjustments-**NOTE-there are 2 screws- 1 changes the position in or out and the other changes the angle**

Look under vehicle and see if cable at equalizer is hanging low. If it is or there is a lot of slack in it, then you just need an adjustment.
Basically, release brake handle, loosen the already loose cable (via equalizer nuts). pull handle back about...8 to 10 clicks/ notches. Then tighten equalizer nuts. Check it by releasing handle and this should release the rear wheels.Pulling handle up should apply parking brakes

Your bike likely has linear pull brakes so you will need to a. loosen the pinch bolt that holds the brake cable to the noodle (down at the wheel). You then pinch the brake in towards the rim with your hand until it's almost touching and then retighten the cable. You can then do some fine adjustment on how close the brake pads are the rim with the adjusting nuts up at the levers.

There are screws/bolts connecting the brake pad to the brake plate. Try moving them out. Also, it works off of cable tension. Extend the length of the cable by lightly unscrewing the cable at the brake mount until it pulls the brake plate open loosely, pull on the cable until your breaks are the desired width apart and screw it back in.

Advice: use locking clamps on the end of the cable so that when you unscrew it, it doesn't go back through the hole. Re-threading it is a pain-in-the-****.

if the knob is still on the end of that brake cable, then you just need to tighten your rear brakes by squeezing on them and pull the cable taught... you should then be able to just slide the cable into a lil groove on the handle lever and slip the knob back into the hold on the bottom of the handle lever

this is something you need to take up with your local bike shop
