Soak it in white vinegar. It may take longer than stronger chemicals, but you probably have white vinegar on hand.

You need to descale it. step 1: run some white vinegar through it. step 2: use a commercial descling product (more effective than vinegar). Step 3: if the water flow is completely blocked by scale you need to un screw the exit filter by tipping the machine upside down. Then, remove the scale that built up under the filter, and clean the filter holes. Reassmeble the device and run a descaler through it.

Yes vinegar is about the best thing to use.
How to do it is ,
place a coffee cup upright in the upper rack as is if you were going to drink from it
fill it with about a cup of vinegar..white vinegar is best,but apple cider vinegar works well too
set and run a regular/normal cycle

mcdevito75 here, sounds like your coffee maker needs cleaning, after 20--30 cups of coffee made it does. Fill the decanter with white vinegar, clean or place new filter in the machine and cycle the white vinegar thru 3 times, on the 3rd time time thru stop the machine for 30 minutes, then resume that cycle. Now clean or replace the filter again and cycle thru regular water 3--4 times the get rid of all the vinegar, machine shouls be fine now.

mcdevito75 here, Start with a new paper filter or claen the perminant one, you"ll need enough WHITE VINEGAT to fill the pot itself 3/4 full of this WHITE VINEGAR, NOW pour the pot of 3/4 full of WHITE VINEGAR into the resovoir, replace pot in the coffeee maker and cycle thru the vinegar 3 times, each time letting the mavhine cool a bit for easy handleing, on the 3 rd cycle stop 1/2 thru the brew cycle, let machine cool for 30 Minutes, then complete that cycle. Now repeat with fresh water to reove all the vinegar from the machine. Your coffee maker should now be good as new.
