What would cause computer not to turn on when the power is loaded and the screen to stay black?

Im sorry about your situation.

Does the computer turn on??
If the computer turns on do you hear or can you see the fan working??

If the computer turns on does it stay on or does it shut down after a few minutes??

This will help us determine what is going on.

R15d notebook screen black, fans running

either your backlight has failed or you have hit one of the function keys which selects external monitor- can you connect it to an external monitor to see what happens?

Hp entertaiment pc problem display STAYS BLACK BUT ALL LIGHTS COME ON

If the Video Controller fails, the screen will stay black when the rest of the computer runs as it should. To test this, look to the side of the computer and locate the external Monitor attachment. It is a nine pin male outlet. Take a regular computer monitor and attach it to the connection and turn on the computer. If the Monitor acts like your normal LCD screen, then the main LCD screen is bad. If Neither the Monitor or LCD works, then the Video portion of the computer may be defective.

When we turn on our dell desktop, the fan goes into overdrive,it start and continues with one long beep. The monitor stays black and says auto anolouge input entering power save and stays black. We have...

Try another monitor first, if that causes the same error message, suspect Graphics card problem, try replacement graphics card. One long beep points also to Ram issues

Lap boots up, shows dell logo then screen goes black but runs.

ur unit is overheating turn off and unplug and let cool down, clean vents around fan intake (under unit) and around top each side of keyboard when cool enough plug back in and listen for fan operation while booting up if no fan it may be stuck or burnt up and may need replacement but ur biggest problem will be the hard drive if it was overheated for to long could or is damaged good luck hope ur lucky and that it just got hot

Black screen on compaq presario v5000

the very first thing that u can try is that try it with the different ac adaptor and the battery and try it with the differnt ac aaaadaptor and still it doesnt then wahat u said is that u can hear the sound of the fan and the disk is trying to read but u cannnot see anything on the screen adn all u need to clearify is that if the computer is actually running or not and if it is working then what u can do is that connect the external monitor and then try and turn on the laptop and if u get a good display in te external monitor then definately replace the lcd screen and also what u can try is that try and reboot the computer in the safe mode and if turns on and u can see the display in the screen then do the system restore and it will be fine.......and as u said that u get a choppy sound from the fan then what u can do is that try and clean the fan from the back or by opening it......anbd it will not get any sound from the fan......good luck....

best guess is the monitor is bad. Try replacing the monitor first.

Black screen not booting

check both your power and video connections to the monitor, sounds more like a monitor power issue.
if the connections appear ok, but screen still blank, try connecting a known good working monitor from somewhere else and see if it works with your pc, if it does, your original monitor is faulty, if it doesn't, you have a pc video issue.
