By extra cord if you mean the modular cord that connects the phone to the phone jack, you probably received a single and 2 line cord with the phone. Look at the plug if one cord has 2 gold pins and the other has 4 then that is what you have. Either cord would work but if you have only 1 line use the cord with 2 pins. otherwise use the 4 pin one if you have 2 lines.

I don't know how to release cord to use cordless

Are you attempting to change phones over? From the phone line wall socket there will be a small plug the phone line is connected to - a small plastic tag will be on one side of that cord plug. Easiest way to disconnect the plug is wrap your fingers around the base of the cord and press the small plastic tag towards the cord with your thumb nail and gently pull. The phone cord should pull free with very little effort. Plug the new cordless base station in to the phone line socket, follow the set up instructions with your cordless phone and if it's charged sufficiently, it should be connected and working.

How to fix phone line problem

1. Check your connection. Make sure your phone is connected to the phone line.
2. Change phones. Plug a corded phone into the phone line where you are experiencing problems. If the problem is resolved, the problem might be your phone, not the line; if it's a portable phone, it could have a signal problem. Make sure to change phone cords along with the phone to rule out problems with a phone cord.
3.Disconnect all extra phone equipment that plugs into your phone line, including modems, fax machines and additional phones. Leave only one corded phone plugged into your phone line. If the problem still occurs, plug your phone into every phone jack in your home to verify the problem is throughout your home and not isolated to one outlet. If your problem was resolved by unplugging devices, attach each device, one by one, to see if the problem returns. If it returns when you plug in one device, you know your problem is with the device.
  • 4.Call from an outside line. You can call from a cell phone or another land-based phone line. If the problem still exists, the problem may reside in the phone lines outside your home.
  • 5.If steps 1 through 4 do not fix your phone line problem, call the phone company from an alternative phone line. Discuss the problem you are having with your phone line and all the steps you have taken to check the phone line for problems. Your phone company will probably call your phone line to run some diagnostic tests. Based on these tests, they can determine if the problem is inside or outside your home. If the problem is inside your home, you might need a professional to diagnose the problem using line-testing equipment. If the problem is in the line outside your home, the phone company is usually responsible for fixing the problem.

How do i connect phone to laptop connection

So do you have internet service at the house? If so you can plug the ethernet cable from the modem directly into the computer's ethernet port.

If you're talking about directly connecting to your cell phone, then the phone has to have the built in router in it. If it does, you can connect your computer to it wirelessly.

If you're talking about a regular old house phone (land line) then you would be very slow if you could get it connected. I don't think the newer models of computers even have a modem port to connect a telephone line into it. But basically you would still need a internet service provider to connect it.

Bear in mind that there is a difference between the phone cord and the ethernet cord. The phone cord is smaller in size and the end that plugs in is smaller.

You should not have to do anything to make the base find the phone line as long as it's plugged into a working phone jack and the AC power is on.

Have you tested the phone jack where you are connecting the base to be sure it's working? You can check with a simple, basic corded type phone. (You should have one of these on hand anyway, in case your power goes out. Without AC power, cordless phones won't work since their base unit would be off. The basic corded phone gets its power from the phone line so it will keep going. It's a good thing to have.) Plug the phone in and see if you have dialtone at the jack. You don't know what kind of phones the former residents had and how their jacks were wired. The one you're using may have been set up on a second line, for example.

If you don't find dialtone at the jack, you can try others and move the base unit as necessary, or see about having the wiring corrected. The model number of your phone is a UK version, and I don't know the rules regarding who can do telephone wiring there. Here in the US you can do the work yourself, hire a contractor, or contact the telephone service provider.

If you find the jack is working, something may have happened to the cordless base unit during the move. Try another cord; maybe the one you're using was damaged. Then your remaining option is to see about servicing or replacing the phone if it's still not working.

They usually use pretty standard audio cords, you can probably just get a replacement at your local Radio Shack. The only one I would be worried about is if you lost the power cord....if that's the case you need to be sure if you buy a different one that the voltage is the same as required.

I am trying to use a plantronics headset system and cannot get a dial tone. Is this Norstar phone compatible?

You don't say what headset it is, but I will to help you.

If this is a Plantronics corded "H" series headset you will need to use an A10 adapter cord, which plugs into the headset jack on the phone.

If this is what you are using and you don't hear anything then you need to probably need to switch to an M22 amplifier box, which is then plugged into the jack where the telephone handset was plugged in.

If you are using a wireless headset it plugs into the handset jack where the handset cord was plugged into.

    Good luck from Headsets Direct!

No, there is no extra cable cord needed to hook up a laptop to a wireless router. Please tell me what you have tried to do and I will help you get connected. Did you set up the router? Do you know if there is a password needed to connect to the wireless network?

Let me know where you are at and I will help you get connected.

Wireless phone extension not working on receiver. Red light and horrible sound hen connection is attempted

You need to register the unit it will work:
    1.
Make sure the Base Unit is switched on and has a Green light showing.
    2. Unplug everything connected to the Base Unit sockets (you will reconnect them later).
    3. Plug the Extension Unit into a power point near the Base Unit, switch on the power and watch the light on the Extension Unit.
    4. If the light on the Extension Unit is not glowing a steady Red then the Extension Unit must first be deregistered. Follow Step A and Step B in
the Deregistering an Extension Unit box below then try to register the Extension Unit again.
    5. Plug one end of a supplied line cord into to either socket on the Base Unit and plug the other end into the extra Extension Unit
(This cord is used to do the actual registering).
    6. The light on the Extension Unit will glow Red for up to a minute and then change to Green or Yellow.
    7. Once you have the Green or Yellow light on the Extension Unit, unplug the line cord between the Base Unit and the Extension Unit
(You can unplug the Extension Unit – it will remember being registered).
    8. Plug in everything that used to be connected to the Base Unit sockets.
    9. Install the extra Extension Unit as per the Extension Unit Installation steps on the other side of this page.
