The DVD has burned incorrectly and the data has likely corrupted somewhat to the point where the DVD player/writer can't read it. You may be able to watch it on your computer with a DVD drive.
Try saving it to your computer, then erasing the disc and trying to record something short to it and play it back - if it plays back, it's likely to have been a recording problem, however, if you get the same problem, it may be a dodgy disc, a faulty DVD player/writer, or a format problem.
Try this, in order left to right.
Copy DVD to PC -> Erase DVD -> Record on DVD from TV -> Play back
If plays back
Erase DVD -> Continue as normal
If not
Buy DVD-RW (emphasis on the minus) -> Try using that
If that works continue as normal, otherwise...
Return the DVD player/writer under warranty for repair/replacement.
Go to walmart and get a Philips universal remote, they have the ilo code listed. I have two of them...even though the remote isn't set up like the original ilo remote, you can still record, burn, finalize, and edit. I have the dvdrhd04...which is going into the shop tomorrow to replace the dvd burner, but the hard drive still works like a charm.
Again, you'll have to play with the remote a bit....ARC gets you into the menu and (.) while playing will get you into edit mode, but into another menu when not playing a recorded item. I've used it so much now that I can barely use the original remote. ha ha. The perk is that you can set up your dvd, your tv, digital box and other things to run on one remote.
You are using the right type Plus (+)R. So, I'd think, the unit is deffective. When I bought mine I had to take back to Walmart, and get it a different one because it was stopping me from recording my own recorded VCR tapes.
These R04 are fickle, some Brands of DVD discs won't work in ILO,try another brand. Also clean laser in iLO it may be dirty, use commercial cleaning disc, put a drop of rubbing alcohol on brushes.Do not use any other chemical.
It is possible you laser is defective or starting to go.If that's the case you need to replace burner/loader.
Some dvd recorders formulate a little differently,I have made recordings in my iLo that won't work in all brands of players/recorders.
your dvd writer is bad you will have to replace it believe me i now what im talking about i have went through 4 ilo's did the same thing plus 100's of differnt name brand dvd's
