Use device manager, right click on the exclamation marks in the drop down tree and then update driver, and use the internet automatically to find the right drivers, should take a few minutes so be patient.
I bought a used Compaq evo N410c and had the same problem. I went to HP's website and downloaded the ADI Soundmax Audio Drivers and both video/sound are working fine. The drivers installed without any problems, I was not prompted to insert any disks. nicole79, sounds like you may have downloaded the wrong drivers.
