The rainbow sat on the water tank for too long and now it smells burning rubber. The rubber ring is distended and misshapen
So depending on how long, you may have rusted out the bearings in your motor, especially if it sat so long as to eat the glue off of your gasket.
Sounds like you may need a new motor, gasket, baffle plate and separator.
