You unit is most likely has DC Offset(a damaged amplifier). Unless you are an audio specific technician, this repair is not a DIY. If you'd like more information, or would like to inquire about having your Sony repaired, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me there. Thank you.

SOURCE: I need power and volume control codes only for my

Not sure if you have tried the 3 codes listed in the OCAP 4 universal remote manual for Sony Receivers
31759, 30158, 31758

Sony DVD players
20533, 21533, 20864, 21033, 21070, 21431, 21536
In addition I find a way of finding the codes at the Universal Remote support site

http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=313
But it gives a generic code for Sony DVD systems
20533

  1. Turn on your device (i.e. TV).
  2. PRESS the button for the device you want to program (TV, VCR, CABLE, AUD, etc.) then RELEASE.
  3. PRESS and HOLD the SETUP button until the red LED for the selected device flashes twice, then RELEASE.
  4. ENTER the 5 digit code for your brand from the list above.
  5. You should receive 2 quick flashes on the LED for the selected device after entering your code.
  6. PRESS the POWER button to test the code. (On VCR,LD,and CD players use PLAY

Not sure if you have already tried all this. The other option might be to find if the Sony system remote has the code for the Charter cable modem.

SOURCE: push power protector

I brought the unit to an authorized Sony repair depot and they concluded that all the power transistors were fried. They replaced the system board under warranty (at no charge) and the system has functioned perfectly since. Thanks for your help. -Steve.

SOURCE: sony home theater system started blinking protect

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.

Regards.

How to fix push power protector Sony DAV-DZ870W

try disconnecting all speaker wires from the main unit, then turn it on. If it still goes into protect - then the amp is blown and you need to replace the main board.

MY SONY HBD-DZ810 HOME THEATER IS CONSTANTLY SHOWING PUSH POWER PROTECTOR

The "PROTECT" and "PUSH POWER" messages will flash alternately when the protective device of the amplifier has been activated because a strong signal was input, or if there is a short-circuit detected. Press the POWER button on the unit to turn off the system, and check the following items after "STANDBY" disappears.

1) Are the + and - speaker cords short-circuited?
2) Are you using only the specified speakers?.
3) Is anything blocking the ventilation holes of the system?

Dav-hdx277wc power protector keeps coming on cant figure out hwy have re-connect the system at least 6 times still saying power protector please help

Why don't you try it without any speakers connected. That would prove if the problem is internal or external. Then either isolate the external speaker path that's causing it or get the unit fixed (internal).

My SONY HT-CT 100 Keeps going into "Protector" mode - even though there's plenty of airspace and the room that it's in is at 65 degrees farenheit

Protector mode does not just react to ambient temp. Try unplugging all the speakers from the back of the unit and turning it on. If it continues to go into protect mode, it is most likely a bad power supply or possibly a bad D/A circuit. If it does not go into protection mode when the speakers are disconnected, try hooking up one speaker at a time (while the unit is off) If the unit faults again when you turn it back on, it should point toward a bad speaker or crossed wires.
