I have an ipod model a1199. i was wondering if you can use a newer ipod touch charger for it? and if not what kind of charger does it use?

Charge an iPod Nano Without a Charger
If you've misplaced or broken the charger that came with your iPod Nano, you might think you need to purchase a new one in order to continue using your Mp3 player.
However, there is a way that you can continue enjoying your iPod without having to purchase a new charger.
As long as you have a USB cord and a computer, you can charge your iPod without having the charger.

Locate the USB cord that came with your iPod Nano package.
It is the same cord that you use in order to sync or transfer music.
Plug the small end into your iPod Nano.

Plug the other, larger end into your computer's USB port.
Choose "Do Nothing" when your computer presents the dialogue box to let you choose what to do with the hardware or USB connection.
Leave your Nano plugged into your computer for at least 4 hours to charge.
Unplug your iPod Nano when charging is complete.
Charge an iPod Without the Charger
Many iPod owners purchase a charging unit that plugs into a standard wall outlet to recharge the iPod's battery.
However, the iPod wall charger is not included with new purchases, so consumers must either purchase a separate charger or find a way to charge their iPod using other means.
Here's a simple method to charge your iPod using your computer.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod.
Plug the other end of the iPod USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.

Open the iTunes program by clicking on the icon in the Dock on a Mac or using the Start menu on a PC.
Click on the name of your iPod under the "Devices" heading in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to synchronize your iPod with your computer data.
While the iPod is syncing, the power from the USB port on your computer will charge your iPod's battery.

Unplug your iPod from the computer once the battery is fully charged.

This one should be ok.

Unlock

Unlock an iPod Model A1199
Although the second generation iPod Nano (also known as 2G) uses a four-digit pass code that prevents unauthorized access to your iPod by locking the screen, you can also unlock the device by plugging it into your computer's USB 2.0 port.
When the 2G iPod Nano is connected to the computer it is synchronized, and automatically unlocks the screen according to the official Apple site.
In order to successfully unlock the Nano it must be plugged into the primary computer used for synchronizing content.

Click "Start," "All Programs" and "iTunes" on your PC's desktop, or click "iTunes" on the Macintosh's desktop dock.
Plug the iPod Nano's cable into the docking port on the iPod Nano.
Plug the other end into the USB port on the computer to open iTunes.
Click "Controls" at the top of the iTunes' menu, and select "Eject iPod."
The iPod Nano's screen will be unlocked once it is ejected from your computer.

I have apple iPod 2Gb. It doesn't start. it's display only busy icon. I think's it's frozzen how to sove this problem

How to Fix a Frozen IPod Nano

iPod Nanos will sometimes freeze up, sticking on one screen or not even turning on at all. If your nano is locking up, there are a few things you can try to get it working again.

1. Turn off the hold button. First of all, make sure that that wasn't the problem--don't worry, we've all done dumber stuff.

2. Cold boot. Assuming that wasn't the problem, flick the hold button on and off a few times, and then make sure it's off. Hold down the Menu button and the middle button button for about 15 seconds; this should reset the iPod nano, which may fix the issue. Make sure that the iPod nano is fully charged before attempting this.

3. Recharge. If that didn't work at all, try plugging the iPod nano into the USB port of a computer, using the adapter that came with it. Be sure to plug directly into the computer, and not through a USB hub. The USB needs to provide adequate power for the iPod nano to function, and it may be unable to do so through a hub. The iPod nano should be recognized by the computer; once it is, you simply need to safely disconnect it in iTunes, and it should be functional. If it doesn't show up on the computer at all, give it about 20 minutes, leaving the iPod nano connected to the computer, as the nano may be under-charged, which requires a few minutes to re-charge. If it's still not working, try plugging the iPod nano into a different computer.

4. Try again. If the Menu + Middle Button fix seemed to work, but just cycled the nano back to one of its starting screens (including the "do not disconnect" or the "loading Apple logo" screen), try that fix again. If it still doesn't work, try to charge it for a while, and then try it once more.

I plugged in my i pod and came back a hour later and the screen was black and was frozen and none of the buttons would work

you will need to reset your ipod this will not delete songs. 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold Menu and the Center button for at least 6 seconds, until the
Apple logo appears.
If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
â Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
â The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your
computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for
the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving
a charge.
To charge the battery, connect iPod nano to a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Ipod nano 8GB 3rd generation FROZEN!

Try resetting the ipod while its connected to the computer by holding both the menu and center button at the same time for 6-10 seconds until you see an apple appear on the screen. You may need to repeat the reset. If this fails your looking at a hardware issue most likely. Good Luck.
