Skagen watch glasses keep cracking

I have 2 skagen watches and the glass keeps cracking without being hit against anything one lasted nearly a year the second one cracked after2 days it will cost £60 to have the watch glasses repaired by Skagen uk surely this is scandalous and the watches are not fit for purpose has anyone got a solution

Yes I would speak to Skagen in stron terms, this should not happen and wa probably aused by the glass being stressed when fitting it

I had the same, two times the glass on my Skagen Automatic cracked. Second time I wasn't even wearing it. Brought it back to the shop and they sent it to Skagen. The glass was repaired with no cost for me.

I hope they did it for you as well!

    Likewise. The first time I was not wearing it. QVC replaced it free. The second time I accidentally tapped it with a cup. Similar crack - a complete circle that fell out. Left untouched overnight, extensive further cracks have appeared all over the glass. I cannot trust this product and will be getting a refund. I do not want another. Pity, as it looks good and I like the solar tech.

I have had to replace more glasses in this watch than any other brand over the last two years - It is most definitely a design flaw. The truth is though that you will not need a genuine skagen part. Your local watch repair shop will be able to use a standard 1mm thick domed Mineral Glass manufactured by Sternkreuz for example. It should be fitted by a qualified watch repairer, but you should not need to send it to Skagen. Good luck

BEST BET, keep shopping for a small watch repair shop in your area, a small out of the way place where prices may be lower..

Broken glass and new strap
Hi Chris,

Skagen watches have very thin domed crystals and they do break. Because of how thin they are it doesn't take a lot of pressure to break the crystal.

Crystals are not something any watch company covers in their warranty.

The crystal can be replaced. Either Skagen can replace them or a qualified watchmaker can. Prices vary and it would depend on how much you are willing to spend as to if it was worth it to you.
