I have an upright that is about 7yrs, old, that recently just stopped freezing. Inside is cold, but not cold enough.
Checked:
Outside door Gasket - fine, no cracks, clean and seems to seal well
Defrost timer - ohms out just fine
Fan - works fine
Therostat ? - measure open ckt - not having any frost issues, so even if
it's back not sure it could be culprit
> should it ohm as OPEN?
Heater - ohms short (or at least low resistance)
I'm guess compressor has lost it's charge, or otherwise?
I have gauges, and Freon for that matter - can you walk me through the charge.or debug process?

The thermostat should be a close circuit when requesting cold temps. or when asking the compressor to come on. The exterior surface on some freezers warm when asking for cold inside. Yours has a condenser coil on the back and that should warm when cooling. If compressor is runningit should be wrm if no freon has leaked from freezer somewhere.
The defrost timer should rotate clockwise during the day and give approx. 3 defrost daily or about every 8 hours. Until the thermostat is resolved and asks for a closed circuit the compressor will not come on. Unplug freezer from outlet, remove thermostat wires, then turn the thermostat to its coldest setting and check again. If no closed circuit the thermostat will need replaced first. Hope this has helped you, Sea Breeze

I purchased my freezer in 8/00 and have had no problems. yesterday I opened it and everything was defrosting. i moved everything out, put a thermometer in and it is staying at 30 degrees. the door gasket is good but I don't know what else to do except call a repairman. Any suggestions??
doesn't get cold enough - 20 degrees
