SOURCE: Emachine W3507----upgraded to windows vista----I want to do a full system restore

Most package systems like that will partition the hard drive and place the recovery image on the smaller partition of the drive. I don't know about this specific system/model, but I'd bet that is the case, and explains why you have no Recovery CD. Now, you need to understand that if you restore that image, it will be what the system had in place when you bought it two years ago. So, BACK UP YOUR DATA!! You will lose everything you have done for the last two years.

Now, having upgraded to Vista, there is no way to downgrade from Vista and end up with the XP you had before. You're going to have to format and start over. Did your computer come with a CD that allows you to boot and access the recovery partition on your hard drive?

Normally on systems like yours, you are prompted to create a restore disk when you first fire the system up. Did that happen with you? Did you create one?

Perhaps check this article on eldergeek: http://www.theeldergeek.com/re-enable_system_restore.htm

Open Device Manager, Uninstall the Graphic Card and driver, reboot the machine, allow Windows 7 to apply the generic driver, Open Windows Updates and run. OR, open Device Manager, display adapter, update Graphics adapter. OR, Use the eMachine windows vista 64 bit drivers. Download the Windows Vista 64bit driver and Save , open Properties, change compatibility to Windows 7. I have an Emachines computer with Windows Ultimate Vista on it. While I am using my computer it wi8ll go white and it won't come back on, I push the Windows butten so I can get back on internet.

Hi,

Windows Vista is the worst OS ever brought out by Microsoft. You need to upgrade to Windows 7 or downgrade to Windows XP. As long as you keep using Vista you will always have problems.

Best wishes,

Can I load Windows 7 on an eMachines T5048 with 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and 3Ghz CPU? It is Vista capable so shouldn't Windows 7 work?

Yes you can Load windows 7 on the Emachine with those specs. It should work well, much better than Vista (in my opinion). Your machine has all the specifications necessary for windows 7. The only thing is if you want all the graphics bells and whistles to be enabled you need a better graphics card. Something to keep in mind!

Vista Home Premium crashed. Reloaded, www, graphics driver no-go

I would try to use the System Restore feature, if you have not already. Choose a date prior to when it crashed on you and it should work.
