Step 1:
All computer BIOS chips have a backdoor master password designed to be used in the event that you can't remember the password you set yourself or by a tech support agent who is fixing your machine. These passwords are set at the factory level and do not change, no matter what model of computer you own. You will use this password to bypass the currently set password in the event that you need to access your HP BIOS but cannot.

Turn on your HP computer. Strike the "F2" keyboard key. Your HP computer will attempt to load your BIOS. You will be prompted to enter your current password. Type "merlin" into the password prompt and hit "Enter." This is the backdoor BIOS password for HP brand computers. You will now bypass the user defined password and the BIOS screen will load as normal.

There's a few different options available,

Or, you can take out the bios battery.
It's a small, watch battery looking.. battery that will completely reset your bios settings and remove the password.

this is an anti-theft thing. You are meant to contact Compaq, provide proof of ownership, a receipt etc, and they will happily provide you with an Unlock key, for a fee. They are almost impossible to Crack, as they are kept in NV RAM,and there is NO way to access it, remove it or anything other than the Unlock key. The links above may be of some help, especially on older PC's the modern ones are uncrackable by mere mortals, without that magic key.

See if you can access the bios setup - usually F1 or F2 key right at the start up and see if that is where the password issue is. If so, try this:
Tech FAQ Forum members have reported that they were able to remove their Acer BIOS passwords by simply opening their notebooks and removing the CMOS batteries for 30 minutes.
Once your BIOS password is removed, you will need to press the <F2> key during POST (Power On Self Test) to enter the Acer BIOS setup.
