These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. We had a Pioneer that did the same thing. We called a Pioneer Service Center. It appears there was a recall on the Power Supply. They fixed it in our home at not charge.

Usually seven blinks indicates a Y sustain problem. Its either the Y sustain pcb and/or the buffer boards. I would highly recommend calling an authorized service center for this if you don't know what you are doing.
