Could just be a loose belt

SOURCE: high pitched squeal when starting car

Sounds like a belt, and possibly the one on the power steering pump which may be the sepentine belt. Could be caused by power steering pump pulley resistance or the belt tensioner bearing. Try a visual check with motor running. Be careful of moving parts!

High pitch whistle sound on my 2005 saturn ion whenever my car is on, whenever it is in idle or in drive

start in the engine bay
look from air filter to throttle body for any air intake leaks

if it is supercharged listen to the supercharger bearings

then anything spinning at high rpm from the serp belt
could be a bearing water pump or idler pully

if internal only could be something caught in the air vents

I have a high pitch wine in engine and it increases as RPM goes up sound like right side by fire wall 85000 on car.

I had the same thing and it turned out to be a bad Idler pully which eventually went bad and tore up the belt. note one bolt on the idler has to be reached from underneath the car.

I hear a high pitch sound in the engine compartment that starts when I start the car. With the car still in park, the noise does increase when I step on the accelerator. While driving the noise is in sync...

sounds like you need to replace the idler pully and maybe the tens. pully. and that will solve your sounds problem. whats happening is the bearings are bad and thats what you hear

Mazdaspeed protoge 03 is making that high pitch squeeling noise and i just replaced powersteering belt.also as soon as i turn a/c on it starts squeeling

That means the fanbelt on the alternator is not tight enough or needs to be changed, if the belt on powersteering goes via A/C than it might be too tight on the powersteering pulley.

I have a high pitched noise which appears to be coming from front right engine compartment (as you are looking at the engine) which sounds kind of like a belt that is squealing. It is intermittent. Just...

Could be several things. WHICH ENGINE?.. 4 cylinder (has three belts, power steering/water pump, alternator & A/C compressor, one tensioner pully A/C compressor), The V6 2.7 (has only one belt, 1 Idler pully and 1 tensioner pully), the V6 3.5 has two belts - A/C/alternator, and power steering - there are two tensioner pullys). Noises can be caused by the belt(s) themselves, pullys, bearings, pully bearings, water pump shaft bearings (or belts/pullys rubbing up against something). Let's not forget that there is also belt(s) behind the Timing Belt cover as well as pullys and bearings associated with the timing system. You could start by removing one accy drive belt at a time (alternator, water pump, compressor, power steering, etc) to see whether or not the noise goes away in each case. If after each case, you discover the noise is still there, it's probably behind the timing belt cover (idler/tensioner pully, water pump shaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, etc.). Good Luck

High pitched car sounds

does the noise and light occour at the same time ? another cause of a high pitched noise can be slipping drive belts, alternator, powersteering etc so check them for tightness, condition etc, does the noise happen when car staionary and just rev the engine ? if so i would say it is the drive belt/s, go back to the VW dealer re the ABS light and get them to check the OBD as should be done as part of the service , hope this helps
