Run the diagnostics.
With the TV power cord plugged in, press the 'INPUT and 'MENU' buttons at the same time -- use the buttons on the front of the TV, NOT the buttons on the remote; a diagnostic Error Code Operational Check will begin, utilizing the 'POWER ON' LED (the green 'POWER ON' indicator light).
There will be a pattern of two sets of flashes, with a pause in bewteen flashes; this sequence of flashes will be repeated a total of five times.
The Error Code designations are listed below:
Error Code Description
12 No eror has occurred.
21 X-Ray Protect circuit.
22 Short Protect circuit.
23 Horizontal Deflection failure.
24 Vertical Deflection failure.
I hope this information helps.
By the way, in order to start the diagnostics, the 'INPUT' and 'MENU' buttons need to be held in for at least five seconds to start the diagnostics program... sorry I forgot to mention this earlier.
Hi Dinah,
You need to count the flashes of the green LED (the one that tells you whether the TV is in a power on state) on the front of the TV (it's the one you refer to in your question above as the green button).
(From your question, you state when you try to turn the TV on, the green LED only stays on for two seconds or so and then shuts off)
For example, if there are two flashes, followed by a 1/2 second pause, and then three more flashes -- this indicates a problem with the Horizontal Deflection circuit... see the previous information I sent to determine what the different Error Codes mean.
The Error Code pattern will repeat five times and then the diagnostic will be complete.
