Thermostat set at 72 degrees on auto cool setting

Check the tstat's for a relative humidity setting. If it has that option set it to 60 percent. If not, make sure to check all programs if it's programmable. If not those 2 options, it may need to be replaced.

My thermostate will not shut off when the room temperature drops to 72 degrees in which my thermostat was set at on the auto cool setting. It even continues to run and drop below 72 to 68 degrees and never...

What brand and installed in what? If a thermostat is installed on a wall that is heated by the sun it will give false temps. If it's mounted too low or high it will not be right either.

I have the carrier infiniti system. When my thermostat reaches the set temperature it doesn't always shut off. I shut off the main control to let it reset. It works for a while and then it starts

Carrier Infinity system is a variable speed unit that will just slow down as it approaches set point. Unless it overshoots the set temperature (you have it set on 72 and the temperature keeps rising above 72) this just sounds like normal operation.

When gets to temp. shuts off and few mins later kicks back on it keeps doing this

make shur that the thermostat is not above the a heat sourse also some of the t-stats have a ajustment in them that allow you to change the on off zone for e.g. you set it to come on at 72 and it shuts off at 76, the more hight end modles are the ones that allow to to do that

My air conditioning unit is cooling properly...but won't shut off

Hello
The location of the thermostat could be a problem,if its too close to a vent it will cut off too soon.

Or if its in a sunny or warm location it may run too long.A 2 or 4 degree swing is not that abnormal.Say if you set it for 74 and you get 72 this is not bad.
If the unit is not shutting off at all,be sure the t stat is set to cool/auto.
If still no luck then you may have a wiring problem or a stuck contactor or bad relay, which would require a service person.

Auto shut off has killed my iron

Have you unpluged it ?, it should have reset if you did. You have to keep it moving once in a while or it will kick off again. there is a timer in it to kick it off if left still.

Does the T8602C1095 have an anticipator that may need adjustment when the temperature set is exceeded, eg we set at 70 and it goes to 71-72 and then need to manually shut down system.

that is how they work. ther is a 1 to 3 degree variance up or down.it probaly does not kick back until 67 or68 degrees. a two stage furnace will keep a more steady temp.

Shut off itself

sounds like you might have an auto overvoltage shutdown circuit kicking in. The hivoltage goes to high and the monitoring circuit auto shuts down. More than likely trouble is in hivoltage circuitry. If you have a transformer that will allow you to bring up the set slowly without shutting down and you can look to see what's happening.

I have a Honewell CM921/927 wireless programmable room thermostat that is operating the combi boiler in AUTO mode even when the time setting is meant to be off (no output). The target temp is 20 deg and...

If the room is at the set temperature even when the rad are warm the boiler is doing its job. It takes steel rads up to an hour to cool down so if they stay warm to the touch that is normal. It takes steel rads a long time to heat up when they get cold so its cheaper to let them not get real cold.I was told not to put a programmable thermostat on our boiler simply because it takes a lot of gas to bring your house up even two degrees. I run a non programmable and set our heat at 72 degrees and do not touch it all winter. There should be a water shut off on each rad so if you want your bedroom cooler just shut that shut off on that rad off.
