In my experience...if it blows the fuse as soon as you turn the key, under the flywheel, there is a stator that recharges the battery when the engine is running, remove the flywheel, in most cases the magnets under it are broken and are in direct contact with the stator. If that is the case, both must be replaced

John Deere 5103 keeps blowing fuse for fuel shut-off solenoid Sometimes it will start and run fro a few minutes and other times it will blow fuse as soon as you turn the ignition key

Check wiring and solenoid. There is an electrical fault. A fuse limits current thru wiring and device. Try inspecting wiring for chaffs or worn spots then replace solenoid. Replacing fuse is an exercise in futility.

The in line fuse between the solenoid and the ignition key blows as soon as I turn the key on. The mower is less than a year old and wiring seems fine.

Solenoid is probably shorted to ground...if you can obtain an ohmmeter..measure the resistance from the small trigger lead on the solenoid to ground(usually the mounting tab)..the reading should be around 50-200 ohms...if it is lower then the solenoid is junk

Sounds like there's a grounded wire somewhere between the ignition switch and the solenoid. When you bypass the switch with the screwdriver you don't ground out the line, but with the switch the ground shorts the circuit, blows the fuse, and then won't start the engine.

Cub cadet 2160 when turning ignition switch in second position, starter motor starts spinning. blows 20A fuse

You have either a short in the solenoid trigger circuit, and a faulty solenoid. To check, disconnect the small trigger wire on the solenoid. Turn key to 'START'. If fuse blows, there is a fault in the wiring. If not, the solenoid is faulty.

My riding mower blows fuses once you turn the key.

Sounds like you are on the right path, maybe some wires on the ignition were replaced backward, and you are sending +12v directly to ground? Does it blow right away?
