I installed subwoofers with an amp, went out and bought the expensive aftermarket stereo adapter and have it all set up. but when i turn the subs on they dont work. if i unplug the factory amp then the subs work but the door speakers dont work causing me to only hear the bass of my music

Might not be eathed properly. Check the earth on the battery as well. Theres more juice goin through there now so it might need a bigger earth or ground.
SOURCE: subwoofer/speakers are hooked up to my amp but making bad noise
it sounds like you have some wires crossed or a bad ground
Hope this helps

Hello Jax GS300,
Yes, you can use RCA cables. Just wire in a "low-level" converter.
Using RCA's is really the best way, allowing you to run shielded wiring to the sub, making it less likely that the wiring will pick up electrical interference. I'd install the converter on the rear speaker wires behind the dash.
If you do not want to convert the speaker output, you can drive the Kenwood directly from the speaker wires. The diagram in the install manual shows the connections coming off the rear speakers.
Here's a link to one output converter. This one will convert all 4 speakers.

Hope this helps.

your amp might have a low pass filter and a high pass filter make sure it is switched to low pass and that should prevent music from coming out of the subs and just alow the bass too

You can go to Walmart and in the stereo/speaker department they have dash kits for different vehicles.Just read the box to determine your vehicle. Also, they have amp kits for different wattage amps, but if you had rather buy each item you will need, a Power Wire (to the battery 4g or 8g), a ground wire (to the chassey), a remote wire that should run to a wire from your cd player saying remote (any size is fine), speaker wire (14g or 16g is fine) a set of RCA cables, and if your cd player dosnt have RCA jacks you will have to have a converter.
