would love a solution to this one. I have the same problem.

  • Anonymous Feb 26, 2008

I have been trying to start my scooba. I will the tank and put it down and turned it on. I get the "check tank" signal. I primed it and have tried everything I know how to do. What do I do?

Same problem...have tried all the suggestions suggested. I wish I had never bought this. I spend more time trying to troubleshoot than it spends time cleaning.

  • gail913 Jul 20, 2008

Have tried all of the suggestions and nothing works. This is so frustrating as this piece of equipment isn't exactly inexpensive. Have checked tank, filters, used the bulb on the solution filter and NOTHING!!!

  • El Duce Aug 01, 2008

Yup. I had the same problem and I also have the fix -- send it back to iRobot. After less than six weeks of use, my Scooba gave me the "check tank" business. I tried everything suggested and a few things not suggested. Nada. So I sent it back to iRobot. After much ado, they sent me a replacement which lasted just under 40 minutes before developing an entirely different incurable malady.

I have the same problem and its so irritating. this thing is a peice of junk

  • Anonymous Feb 03, 2009

I have the same problem. My first scooba also had this problem. Irobot replaced it. The other day, I emptied and cleaned both tanks and charged it. The next time I used it, no problem. But then I put it away without emptying the tanks and I have experienced the problem again. I wonder if we should not put the scooba away over night with fluid in the tanks.

  • herb_moses Feb 14, 2009

I ran it through a cycle, emptied the dirty tank, cleaned out the unit, recharged the battery and tried to run it again. Motor ground a bit and Blue "Check Tank" light went on. This repeated itself several times..

If your Scooba's Green Check Tank light is coming on immediately on startup, please try the following steps:

1. Remove and reseat Scooba's battery, ensuring that you hear it click into place.
2. Remove and reseat the brush head
3. Remove and reseat the vacuum port and filter. When replacing the filter, be sure to press firmly into the hole. There is a magnet on the filter that must connect with the magnet on the Scooba.
4. Fill Scooba’s Clean Tank with approximately 1 cup of cold water, shake vigorously, and empty it to remove any debris in the tank.
5. Empty the Dirty Tank, refill with water, and slosh it around to pick up any sediment. Empty the Dirty Tank again.
6. Refill Scooba’s Clean Tank with water, adding a pinch or two of table salt. Run the Scooba. If the issue persists, please follow the steps below:

With the tank removed, press the Power button and then the Clean button.

If the robot tries to start a cleaning cycle, power off the robot and repeat, pressing the Power button first and then the Clean button. If the pump makes a “whirring” or squirting sound and the robot does not start a cleaning cycle (Check Tank indicator will light), this indicates that the pump is working. Replace the tank and try starting a new cleaning cycle with the tank on.

If Scooba does begin a cleaning cycle the second time you press the Power and then the Clean button with the tank removed, the pump valve could be blocked with debris. Using a turkey baster, straw or sports bottle, force water through Scooba’s solution valve. Confirm that the baster, straw or sports bottle fits snugly over Scooba’s solution valve, push water through the system at least three times, and then try re-starting Scooba.

Below is a link to a diagram of these steps for visual reference:

Next suggestion is for those who did everything according iRobot and destiny brothers suggestions on the Web. Fort those who did everything (washing, primming, testing ect.) and are still stuck with Check Tank problem.
Suggestion is for those who understands little bit Scooba's internals and how it is functioning.
I only share my experience, so try it at your own risk!

The problem with Check Tank signal lays to the next roots: Dirty-Tank's High-Limit level-sensor (see Figure 5. 'Electrical-Connector To High-Limit Sensor In The Dirty-Tank' on http://mysite.verizon.net/gsplews/Tanks_details.htm ) sends wrong signal to the Scooba electronics. This sensor is resistor-based and is in low resistance as Dirty Tank fluid level reaches certain level and in high resistance if fluid level is low in Dirty Tank.
What I faced in my case Dirty-Tank's High-Limit level-sensor still is in low resistance mode while Dirty Tank is totally empty! I don't know exactly why it is like that; my guess sensor is is impure and washing procedure for Dirty Tank is not helping anymore.
Solution is next: you need to eliminate Dirty-Tank's High-Limit level-sensor. For this take small peace of sticky tape (thin one, but with good electrical insolation) and put around Electrical-Connector To High-Limit Sensor In The Dirty-Tank (see Figure 5. 'Electrical-Connector To High-Limit Sensor In The Dirty-Tank' on http://mysite.verizon.net/gsplews/Tanks_details.htm ) You need very small peace of tape, just one layer. Don't put to much, as Connector still needs to fit to Scooba base.
That is it.
By putting tape on Sensor Connector you send “Dirty Tank is Empty” signal to Scooba Electronics and Check Tank problem should be gone and you run Scooba with no problems.
Keep in mind, you have modified Scooba version now!
This version has NO Dirty-Tank's High-Limit level-sensor functioning anymore! So run it at your own risk.
To run such modification keep next rules:

  1. Always check if Dirty Tank is empty before running next cleaning cycle (as Dirty Tank Level sensor is not functioning you need visual inspection)
  2. NEWER run Scooba to to collect any spill fluid as you might overfill Dirty Tank (remember, Dirty Tank sensor is blocked by tape).

Suggestion for iRobot.
I Love Scooba and wish great success on next upgrade. My suggestion guys. Pls. make Dirty-Tank's High-Limit level-sensor visually inspectable and possible to clean manually with no sofisticated tolls :)

Same problem, nothing worked so I just happended to stick my finger in the dirty tank and I found a HUGE wad of hair and muck lodged just inside the dirty tank apparently blocking the flapper. Took a bit of work with tweezers, a coat hanger and needle nosed pliers but I got all the junk out and Scooba is working great.

Prime your Scooba's pump before first use.
1, Find out the Solution Valve
2, Tp prime pump, fit the end of thr included suction bulb over the solution valve. Push air through the pump system 3 or 4 times. Keep Scooba's suction bulb. If Scooba is not used for 30 days or more, you may need to re-prime Sooba's pump.

OK, I've had the same problem and solved it (for myself, anyway - I hope it helps others as well ;) ). I looked inside the DIRTY tank and it was all covered with a slimy ugly substance, which was not easy to remove, but I have used irrigator to remove it, and it did a pretty good job. For those who doesn't know what irrigator is (and to avoid language barrier) - irrigator is that water pressure based mouth-cleaning thingy, which cleans the spaces between your teeth. After rigorous cleaning I have snapped the tank back into Scooba and it works like a charm ever since. I had to replace the irrigator jet though, for I am NOT putting that thing back into my mouth EVER again... LOL I hope this helps others with the same problem as it helped me. ;) :)

Had the same problem and tech support told me I needed a new one! I used the "turbo snake" to snake out the system from the bottom, and then flushed the system from the bottom. I got a wad of stuff out and it is now workibng great. If you don't have a turbo snake they are great - it has a special designed head that grabs hairs, etc and does not let it go, and it is small and flexible.

I used a miniature screwdriver to stretch out the metal contacts that are located in the square recessed hole under the words "Eject brush" in the base. Also, I made sure that the tiny wires on the tank portion of the scooba that come into contact with these contracts were clean and I pulled them a litte sideways with the mini-screwdriver to maximize the contact.

This is the weirdest solution yet. My scooba started behaving badly about 2 months ago. The check tank light kept coming on and it only ran for 10 - 15 minutes at a time. I bought a new battery but the same thing happened. I tried priming the pump but that did nothing.

I ended up putting the tank back on the scooba but I did not press it into place. I just let it sit on top and hit the power button. The check tank light did not come on. Then I pressed the cleaning button and it started working again. However, I does only run for a few minutes at a time. I'll see if I can figure that one out.

Sometimes this happens and I fix the problem by priming the thing with water with the blue bulb they give you. Recently that didnt fix the problem, this past time it was fixed by flushing the dirty water tank out. I just filled it half way with water a few times and swished it around. Now it's working again.

Had the same problem, followed the advice of cleaning with water and shaking. i also put water with white vinegar in it and shook it around, let it sit about 10 min and shook it again. it cleaned it out after that. the best soluation i found to this problem is to clean it after every use.

I had 2 things wrong and solved a tire tread problem by replacing it. Took me awhile to figure this out.

After that SCOOBA wanted to be CLEAN.
Since he was clean I went to irobot site and learned the following..

1. You can prime the pump/solution valve with a PEN and you need to do that if you haven't used SCOOBA for a long period of time. I didn't use scooba for awhile because of the tire tread problem.

2. If you do not use iRobot recommended cleaning solutions - scooba may not know his tank is full and CLEAN.

Thhhhhat's all folks. My scooba is working great as usual..

1 beep: The main brushes cannot turn. Turn over Roomba and remove the brush guard by pushing the two yellow tabs. Remove the brushes, clear any obstructions, and replace them again.

2 beeps: The side brush cannot turn. Turn over Roomba. Look to see if something is wrapped around the side brush. Remove the side brush with a screw driver and check for string or hair that may be wrapped around it.

3 beeps: The vacuum cannot run Remove and empty Roomba?s bin.

4 beeps: A wheel motor cannot run Your Roomba may be stuck or something may be wrapped around a wheel. Look for something wrapped around the wheels. Push them in and out and make sure they turn easily.

5 beeps: The cliff sensors have failed or are blocked. Turn over Roomba and clear any debris that might be caught underneath the front bumper in the cliff sensors. You can also use compressed air to clean them out.

6 beeps: Wheel obstruction or robot attempting to drive over an obstacle. Turn over Roomba and remove any obstructions that prevent the wheels from seating all the way up into Roomba?s body. Also, remove any obstacles that Roomba could drive over.

7 or 8 beeps: Not applicable Roomba?s beep codes do not include 7 or 8 beeps. If you are getting an error with 7 or 8 beeps, try counting again or contact iRobot Customer Care.

9 beeps: Sensor error Please contact iRobot Customer Care.

10 beeps: Roomba is stuck Pick up Roomba and start it again somewhere else. Use a virtual wall or other barrier to keep Roomba away from the
place it got stuck.

Your Roomba may be experiencing an issue where the battery is deeply discharged and may need to charge longer than the standard 3 hours. (or 7 hours if you have a standard charger)

Even with the charging light showing green (this indicates a fully charged battery) the robot is still charging. If your Roomba exhibits behavior where it charges for a short time then runs for a short time you will need to do the following.

1. Plug the charger into Roomba (if you have a home base be sure to plug directly into Roomba instead of using the home base, this will ensure the robot's charging cycle is not interrupted.)

2. After the Roomba's charging indicator goes to solid green please keep the Roomba on the charger for an additional 72 hours. (3 days)

3. After the 72 hours (3 days) has passed, turn your Roomba on and begin a normal cleaning cycle. If this works successfully it may take several uses for the battery to get back up to the performance it once had.

If this does not correct the problem, please call customer support at 877-855-8593

Biseell little green machine wont squirt water out

The Pumps on these go bad after a couple of months. They rust and will sometimes spray and other times not then eventually not work at all. If your a handy man pull the top off it and remove the pump motor and replace it yourself. The part number is 603-5029 you can put this number in google shipping and get it to your door for about $15 and replace it yourself or have a friend do it. Ebay has tons of them once again just put in the part number and a list of them will come up.
Thanks and have a good one

Not putting out water

Hello,

Here's some trouble shooting tips that will help you figure out what's wrong with your Bissell Little Green Machine, and why the water won't spray out. You didn't mention how old the machine was, but if the machine is brand new, and you've never used this before, then you'll need to prime the machine for the first time.

To prime the Little Green Machine, remove the hose after filling the clean water tank, and press and hold the trigger on the hose for approximately 45 seconds. This will prime the pump, and get the water flowing.

If the machine is older, and you've already been using it, here's some other troubleshooting tips that you can do to try and fix the machine:

9c4a1a7.jpg

Step 1. Fill the clean water solution tank with water, and remove it from the machine. With the tank removed, press the piston at the end of the tank that fits into the machine. The piston is the spring loaded part in the top of the water tank that is pressed upwards when the trigger is squeezed, which in turn releases water into the machine. Press the piston inwards with your finger and see if water comes out.

a0685ae.jpg

Step 2. If water is released from the tank when you push the piston inwards, then your piston and cap assembly are fine. Next unscrew the cap to the clean water tank and make sure that the o-ring is present. This is the rubber ring that rests in between the cap and the tank.

b5a2508.jpg

Step 3. If your o-ring is not there, you'll need to purchase a new a new o-ring and replace it. If the o-ring is present, screw the cap back onto the tank. Inspect the receiver to make sure there is no debris blocking it. The receiver is the part on the machine that the tank sits on top of. If you see debris here, remove any debris that could be obstructing the tanks piston.

c320b5b.jpg

Step 4. After checking these three things, refill the tank with water, reinsert back into the machine and test to see if the water now comes out. If the water does not come out, move on to step 5.

Step 5. Unscrew the two screws on the handle of the hose, and remove the cover that the two screws secure.

1e843f8.jpg

Step 6. After removing the hose cover, inspect the hose that connects to the trigger assembly for blockages:

1b1d8f3.jpg

Step 7. If blockages are found, remove the tube from the trigger, and blow through the hose to remove any blockages, and reinstall the tube back onto the trigger.

Step 8. Reinstall the trigger assembly so that the metal spring's curved side is facing down so that it touches the trigger valve:

026cf8d.jpg

Step 8. After reassembling the hose, turn the machine on again and try spraying the hose again.

If none of these solutions fixed your machine, this most likely indicates that you need to replace your pump. The pump is the internal part that takes the water from the tank, through the hose, and finally sprays it out. The pump replacement is a moderately difficult repair, but if you'd like me to walk you through it, I'd be more then happy to do so.

Please feel free to ask any follow up questions, or let me know if you'd like for me to show you how to replace the pump. I'm always more then happy to answer any question that you may have.

If you found this helpful, please kindly rate my repair helpful so that other Fixya users with the same problem can easily find this solution. By rating the repair you are also encouraging repair professionals to continue posting free repairs. Thanks in advance,

Chris J.
