What does the code nd stand for on amana washer

ND means that the washer can't drain. This can happen if too much detergent is used. If this is the case, let the washer stand for a bit to reduce the suds. Then run the washer on a rinse only cycle with no detergent or laundry. (This is only an option if the door/lid will unlock.)

Alternatively, there may be debris in the pump or the pump is not working. The first step to determining the actual problem will be messy. Prepare a bucket and towels or a wet/dry vacuum to collect the water. Next unplug the washer and move it out from the wall.

Assuming this washer is similar to other Amana models, remove the back panel. It's held on by several screws. Locate the pump mounted to the floor of the washer below the tub. Disconnect the hoses from the pump. The water will pour out of the tub. Check the pump and the pump filter for debris and remove any foreign objects. You may want to remove the pump.

The next step would be to check the resistance in the pump and the wiring between the pump and the central control unit. Then replace any part that is bad. (Usually a sheet with the wiring and resistance information is behind the washer's front panel.)

I hope this helps.

I have an amana front load washer nfw7200tw10 I replaced the drain pump and still get ND error

I had the same problem, not sure it was your pump, load it with a bucket of hot water and some bleach, turn it on and let it run through a short cycle, the hot water and bleach can clean the sensor and the screen in the bottom going down to the pump, did water drain out when you took the lines loose, if it did its a good sign, most people dont realize you use only a quarter or less cup of soap in this washer, it will get the sensor water sensor dirty and the washer thinks it has water when it doesnt, the pump cant drain cause there is no water, . try the hot water trick, rmember use a bucket and as hot a water as you can, probably hair sudds and who know what is blocking the sensor, mine was hair, from my little girl, Matt

Washer Amana does not final spin My washers machine do not final spin ntw4600yq1

No spin, or lite spin try these:

Using a multi meter check for continuity the door switch, which when bad may not allow agitation or spin. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically.

Check the clutch, brake assembly and transmission, one way to check for slipping is to get under the machine after a spin cycle ( this is if u get a lil spin but not much leaving clothes still wet) mix in a spray bottle a lil water and some dish detergent, then spray it on the clutch assembly ( the metal round pc. Connected to the tranny) if it sizzles and steams up then u know its bad and slipping. Another way to check clutch if u get no spin at all? Is to take it out and use ur hand to try and turn the inner spring assembly pushing it around the inside? If its very easy, it BAD should be hard to push by hand.

Next check the motor coupler which engages the tub and tranny to the motor. ( if its bad u usually get no wash or spin or very little of either)

Next check for a loose, worn or broken belt if belt driven.

On some front load models u may need to check the STATOR assembly.
The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Sometimes a no spin machine can be due to a plugged waterpump hose or obstructed water pump propeller. Check these by eye and hand.

Water is leaking out of washer; think it is during the water draining cycle

The AMANA washer has an outer tub and a water pump. Please check these to make sure you can see where the leak is coming from and replace. Also, if your machine has a dispensing system, check all hoses for THAT system. If upon fill up the out tyub HOLDS WATER and DOES NOT Leak, then the outer tub is okay. Carefullky look at the water pump on drain.

Amana washer leaking.

Have your husband disconnect the power and water lines, pull the washer out and tip it back so he can check the hose connections to the water drain pump in the bottom of the washer. That pump should have two hose connections. In older machines, it is entirely possible that a hose has either come loose or cracked. If the hoses appear fine, check the pump itself for possible cracks. If all looks well, check the hose clamps for tightness.
