First, please disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps: Click "Start" button, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar and press "Enter". Click "Continue" if necessary.

In Device Manager, double click to expand "Universal Serial Bus controllers", right click on the Host Controller, click "Uninstall" and click "OK".

Repeat the step 2 to uninstall all items under "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will reinstall all USB controllers automatically.

for XP or earlier

Click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll down universal serial bus controllers you could see a yellow question / exclamation mark? ! or a red X

you will need to update/reinstall drivers right click to reinstall drivers

if you can see your usb drive but its not working
ports (com&lpt) right click update driver if this fails to fix the problem

Check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red white green black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems to a computer and its parts

if you need more help with this or if i have missed the problem post a reply

My memory card read is not working

As in a SD card or similar device? You didn't give me much to work with. Your machine is? the card is? etc. That said, If the machine is older it may not read a over 2GB card without a update on the hardware. If the device, card reader, isn't in service due to a driver issue it will not work. What is the media on the card? Will the card read in another machine? Is the card "Locked"? etc, etc, etc.

Have a aspire 5735 laptop need to know how to insert sd compact flash disk

If your laptop does not have a built-in memory card reader then purchase an USB multi memory card reader that can read a variety of memory cards such as SM/XD, SD/MMC and CF/Micro drives memory cards.
All you need to do is plug in the memory card into the card reader and then plug the card reader into the computer's USB port. The computer will see the memory card as an external memory device.

PNY Optima SD HC 8GB isnt working on laptop

Youll have to get updates for your laptop card reader or get a new one which may have to be installed. Another method you may want to try would be to put the card back into the device you used it in and then hook the device up to the computer, most likely through the USB slot....good luck

Hello, I think you will find your laptop can only read up to 2Gb. You can purchase external card readers that will read up to 8Gb.
