I have a modem not a router. I'm not just going to go buy a router they're pretty expensive for poor people. But I have no idea how to change the NAT settings to open for Halo 3. I use AT&T with a silver Motorola modem.

Hey, I've had the same problem too with my NAT but it said medium instead of restricted. I havent tried this yet cause I'm at work but you restart your router by just inpluggin the power cord and waiting 20 seconds than trying again.

Hope that works!

I just ran into the Strict NAT issue with CoD4. After hours of fighting this I finally figured out what the cause was.

A few months ago for a unrelated test my buddy gave me his old Speedstream modem. Well out of the blue while on hold with Xbox Live support I swapped my modem out with his and BAM, my NAT was OPEN. I flipped over the modem and it was a Siemens SpeedStream 4100. The modem that I received from AT&T was a Siemens SpeedStream Rev B.

So something in the latest Rev B SpeedStream modem keeps your NAT set to strict. I would recommend calling AT&T and see what they can do.

Also you will still need to have UPnP and Gaming Mode enabled or the proper ports forwarded on your router.

My nat settings for my xbox 360 is set to strict, I am connected to xbox live from my laptop, my laptop is connected to my linksys router, how do i change my nat settings to open if my connection is set up...

You'll need to log into the linksys router and find the setting for UPNP. Please make sure this is enabled. That should allow your NAT setting to at least Moderate, if not Open.

Xbox nat setting

If you have a firewall or network hardware, such as a router, you might need to make a configuration change in order for your Xbox 360 console to communicate with Xbox LIVE. This configuration change is sometimes called “opening ports” or "port forwarding."

Xbox LIVE requires the following ports to be open: • TCP 80 • UDP 88 • UDP 3074 • TCP 3074 • UDP 53 • TCP 53

Change NAT to open

First make sure your security type on the router is WEP-Personal. You may need to get the port range for that game or manufacturer. Then enter them in to the gaming tab. This will keep ports open all the time. NAT 2 is acceptable but you want NAT 1. Some internet connections cannot get NAT1.reply if you need further assistance

Change NAT to open

Look through the menu's on the router for UPNP. Turn it on. Then turn it on on the XBOX. UPNP is Universal Plugand play. that should configure the router for you automatically.

How do i change my NAT setting from strict to open

The NAT usually has to do with a device connected to a router. You cannot change the NAT on a modem, only a router. To change it to open, you have to simple forward ports.

Set nat to open

These routers have a setting underneath the advanced tab (within advanced setup) called UPNP.....all three of the active tick boxes need a tick in (by default they don't) and this will sort the NAT stuff out.

Strict NAT

Ok this is how its done. Open your DMZ on your router interface click enable. The IP address you'll have to enter the last digit. This IP address digit is found on your xbox, look under your xbox network setting an get the last digit of IP address an this will only set your xbox to open. bang thats how u fix it. Very simple. any Q's am @ [email protected]
