Location of PCM on a 1986 jeep cherokee 4.0 - Jeep Vehicle Parts & Accessories

It is in the engine bay next to the radiator cap. There are very few reasons where you ever need to go near it.

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM)
The PCM is located in the engine compartment next to the air cleaner assembly. If you need some diagram, juyst contact us in the previous link.

The PCM module is located under the hood, on top of the firewall and near to the coolant reservoir.

The fuse of this car is located under the hood of the car. It is a box covered in some kind of plastic casing, you will have to pry open the cover to be able to locate the fuse of this car.

Check your main fuses and fusible links , as well as the pcm
fuse located in the fuse block .
Be sure all your grounds are properly tightened.

I have never heard of an AIS motor on a jeep or any other vehicle for that matter. A PCM is the computer that runs the cars Electronics. Without the PCM the car doesn't run.

Removal & Installation

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
   
2. Remove the coolant reserve tank and disengage the three electrical connectors from the PCM.
   
3. Remove the three PCM mounting bolts and carefully remove the PCM.
   
4. Installation is the reverse of removal.
