Turned on my dell laptop which has windows xp and it went to a black screen and says: NTLDR is missing Press CTRL ALT DEL to restart, When I press CTRL ALT DEL it just gives me the same message

go to bios and load defaults. if still same thing happens after reboot. Boot from OS cd, on windows etup page, choose "R" to run recovery console. Choose OS. Run CHKDSK /R.

Ntldr file is essential file in order to boot system...If it is missing then your system wont start..try to repair this file from XP/vista CD .. then problem will vanish

In my experience, NTLDR is usually caused by a failing hard drive, however sometimes other factors are at fault.
There are various fixes for the different operating systems that Microsoft offers. Since you don't state your operating system I'd say start here and read.
