I am trying to replace a line sensor on an HP DesignJet 6100. The new unit includes a ribbon cable the feeds under a plate on the print head assembly. I can't see a way to remove the pale to get at the other end of the ribbon cable. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The ribbon cable end attached to the sensor came out and it seems like I could puul the new cable off the new part and insert the old cable instead but I'm hesitant to do that.
Line sensor calibration has must to do if Line Sensor is disassembled or replaced.
In the Service Calibrations submenu, scroll to "Line Sensor Calibration" and press Enter.
Follow the snaps for replacing the line sensor...
Testimonial: "Vinaya, thanks for the response. I have already replaced the sensor and my plotter seems to be working fine without the calibration. I did not have a service manual and could make out the text in the images you posted. I ended up pulling the cable from the old sensor and reusing it for the new one since I could not remove the plate covering the other end of the ribbon cable. How would I access the Service Calibrations menu?"

The sad part unfortunatly is that the sensor on the carrage is below minimum specification. The only solution is to change the carrage as a unit P/N C4713-60039 and its going to be expensive. Normally the carrage belt would be replaced at the same time.

I had the same problem. Ended up replacing the black/yellow "printhead" and that corrected the problem.
SOURCE: Error 13.20.00 on HP laserjet 5200 jam inside top
This is a common issue and most times a bear to repair. There is a
sensor flag mounted on the paper feed assembly behind tray 1 which has
a habit of either coming off or the spring which moves it back a forth
comes out of its holder. In any case it is one of the worst repairs you
have to do. Many items have to come off to get to it and getting that
flag and spring on correctly even with the instructions is difficult.
Usually what will happen is you get the 13.20.00 error on power up with
no motor movement and when you open and close the top cover, the motor
will move but the same error reappears. If you are lucky it is just a
case of a shred of paper blocking the sensor flag from moving and worst
case of the flag having come off. You will need the service manual and
check the removal and replacment section on the paper feed assembly and
play close attention to the 3rd page.
sometimes this error also appears if a wrong fuser is installed in ur printer that is not ur model number.... have it checked
thank you
have a nice day

SOURCE: Vista will not print to HP Laserjet 5p
I purchased a Dynex USB to Parallel Converter Cable from Best Buy and tried to connect but had no success. I then sent an email to Dynex customer service and received a reply in about 24 hours. The rep provided spot on instructions which I was able to follow to a tee. My 14 year old HP Laserjet 5P is now ready to run until it blows up.
I spent hours searching web forums and only received overcomplicated replies by people who think they are techies, none of which worked. I am 63 years old and not a techie, so if I can do it, anyone can. I have saved the email and will forward this straightforward simple fix to anyone who needs it. My net cost was $36.00 for the cable.
