A deep scratch on an acrylic bathtub can only be fixed with an acrylic repair kit or call a repairman that can repair the acrylic.
This is a very tricky process and should only be attempted by a qualified repair person.

Removing stain from fiberglass shower base

Even caked-on iron and rust stains can be removed with a little effort. Apply your chosen cleaners to fiberglass tubs using a soft sponge, a nylon, polyester or polyethylene brush with soft bristles, or a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleansers, steel wool, abrasive scrubbers or scrapers on the fiberglass tub or shower surround, as these can scratch the fiberglass--in a gallon bucket: 2 tablespoons of white vinegar, 1/2 cup warm water, 1 2/3 cups of baking soda and 1/2 cup of a liquid degreasing dish detergent. Apply the solution directly to the stain and let it sit for an hour before rinsing and wiping clean.
A vinegar-and-baking soda paste applied to stained areas creates a chemical reaction that can remove the stain through the fizzing action generated by mixing backing soda with vinegar. Apply the vinegar and baking soda paste directly to the stained area and let sit for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing and removal.

The casing around the jet on the tub side is cracked and is causing water to leak on the outside of the tub. This has happened to three of the 10 jets. What can I do to fix this?

Cheap plastic fatigues with heat . Silicone will work but will not keep the crack from continuing. The fix depends upon what type of plastic you have . It is likely a polyester like fiberglass in which case you can use regular fiberglass to fixit . Rough up the outside with 80 grit , brush in fiberglass resin ( don't forget to mix in hardener) lay in glass material , repeat until built up . Repair the front with a good "gelcoat " repair kit which allows you to mix match color.. sand with 220 , then 600, then 800, then 1500, then 3000 , polish with automotive whit polishing compound , wax

We have got a black scratch in the bottom of our white plastic bath can this be fixed

How deep is the black scratch? Is it a scratch of just a black mark that doesn't want to come up.
If you have not tried it yet, get some Denatured Alcohol and use it to clean the black mark. That is a really good cleaner that will not harm the surface of your tub.

An awesome product that you spray on and let sit overnight. then simply wash it off. (Non Toxic / Non corrosive) No gloves required but does have an odd odor so I would let it soak outside. Heavy accumulations may require a second treatment.

Also great on shower heads. Remove it.. place it in a glass overnight and then re-install the next moring. Does not discolor anything. Ditto for shower enclosures and tile. Why this product is not in great demand is a mystery.

Patch for tiny holes in fiberglass tub (8 yrs. old)

From my own experience I had a crack in mine. I sanded the area I wanted to patch. I bought a fiberglass repair kit from the hardware store. I mixed the hardener with the resin and applied it without the cloth. Make sure you have good ventilation and don't get it on your hands. After it dried I sanded it smooth it didn't look the best so I hit with a little spray paint. I have since replaced the tub but it held until I was ready to do that. A couple of years. Hey if this helps give me a vote please.

Maytag Nepturn TL FAV6800 Grey spots/debris on clothing

Hello davidsonrepl,

I was waiting with someone with more experience to post back on your issue. I haven't experienced this issue it but I would not rule out a transmission seal failure causing your oily grey substance in the wash tub. If you want to investigate further you can get the Service Manual from here

http://www.fixya.com/support/r1655507-found_service_manual_neptune_top_load

take a look at page 38 and on and see if you feel OK with a tear down to the transmission.

Difference between acrylic and fiberglass

Acrylic is a solid sheet material that is heated and vacuum formed to the desired shape. It is then reinforced at the back with fiberglass to give it strength. It is a higher-end material, very durable and super easy to clean. Fiberglass is a material that adheres to a mold and then a gelcoat finish is sprayed onto it. The most common material used in tubs and showers and is the most economical. Cast iron tubs are forged and the finish is applied in powder form while the tub is hot causing the finish to melt onto the cast iron. Synthetic tubs are molded and then a gelcoat finish is applied like the fiberglass tubs.
