SOURCE: Car amp's stopped working. Putting out a heart beat sound through subs but no bass.

could be low current ,disconnect all power including ground for 20min N.B most amps will seem to be shorted at output but this is normal due to damping ratio.

SOURCE: fuse keeps blowing when sub volume is turned up

the amp draw rating on the amp is 100 you need to put a larger fuse in, such as a 150 amp, it would be a good idea to go to 0 ga but not needed. you might also want to upgrade your altenator.

SOURCE: i bought a 500/1 jl audio amp and also a w7 10 sub

if its cutting off and right back on then check your ground and your power wire makes sure both are connected good and none of your fuse's are blown, either that or you got a wire hooked up backwards in the sub.. but my guess is that the sub is hooked up wrong... that sub should be hooked up in a series or in parallel,

ok if your running just one speaker, it should be hooked up like this and 2 speakers are a different way...

this is parallel :pos to pos , neg to neg, then one wire coming from pos on sub to pos on amp then neg on sub to neg on amp but bridge the amp on your amp should be 2 pos and 2 neg in two different channels take the pos off the sub into the pos on 1 channel and then the neg from sub to the neg on the other channel,

this is series : on the sub it will go pos to neg then the other neg and pos will go to the amp, but make sure the pos and neg r on different sides of the sub, dont hook them both to the same coil

if your need more help give me your email and ill send you a pic of how to do it...

SOURCE: jl audio 1000/1 problems

Hello l_miller36,

Depending on how much you paid for the amp on eBay, and how well you like the JL product, it may very well be worth the money to get it fixed. As for the wallet damage, you'll have to ask JL or one of their dealers. But, since the Slash2's routinely sell for over $1,000, I'd estimate the cost to be pretty high.

First, I'd send an email to JL Audio tech support and see if they have a "flat-rate" repair option or if they can give you an estimate of the repair costs. My second option would be to talk to a local car audio shop that does component level repairs. In the first case, you'd get exact replacement parts and whatever warranty JL gives on repairs. Not so with the local option, but it would most likely be less expensive.

Hope this helps, good luck.

I have a lanzar vector VCT-2210 2000 watt amp hooked up to two menace 1300 watt subs. when i turn the volume up on the head unit the amp goes into protection mode. i checked all my wiring and it seems all...

Things to check: Is the wire between the amp and the subs heavy enough to pass 167 amps? 2000 * 12 = 166.66666 amps. Max volts on the subs are 10 volts....close enough. Are you sure you're using the line out on the head unit? You may be over driving the amp if it's anything else.If the head unit doesn't have line out connectors then you'll need to get an attenuator for each channel. Do you have caps on the 12 v power in wires? They'll keep the headlights from dimming and the alternator will last longer if you do.

How do i fix my Power Acoustik LT-980/2 car amp, it keeps on going into protect mode.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you

2 12" subs + 600W amp. Turn on, goes boom once, then red light

Is your gain all the way up? If it done this before, sounds like your over working the amp. Make sure your subs ohm load is capable with the amp load to. If they are 1 ohm and your amp is only 2 ohm stable, it would beat for a lil bit then go into protection mode to. Check your wires too.

High distortion

The head unit may be rated at 200 watts but it cannot produce more than ~20 watts of real power per channel. There's no way that it can drive the high end speakers to a level that will be needed to compete with the subs on a 1000 watt amplifier.
