How do i format my gogear 6045 device?

NEED TO DELETE FILES BUT WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER CAN'T RECOGNIZE MP3 FEATURE

Everytime I open my mp3, the screen says, PLEASE FREE UP 10MB OF SPACE TO REFRESH THIS PLAYER. I've tried deleting the files but the windows media player or imesh cant recognize the device. my pc however can detect the device and the other options can function well EXCEPT the MP3.

How can I format my device?
Is there a solution if ever my file got corrupted?

Well, if you dont mind losing your data :( you can reset the device, simply use a pin, poking through the hole on the bottom of the player labelled reset

I formatted my player. Than added new music files. When I try to play them it shows error "No files". But when I open this device through my system. I am able to see music files. Plz help.

This device is only capable of playing MP3 and WMA files. Make sure that the files are in a format that the system can recognize. If that doesn't work, use the software for the device to make sure the firmware is up to date, and not corrupted, and reload the files. Hope this helps!

My player is telling me non-support format use the philips media to convert file in device i don't understand

Hello,
When the GoGear 6045/02 4GB is your player, on next site all support is available:
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SA6045/02&slg=en&scy=GB

For getting the matching files, your player understands and will be able to play, media has to be in a certain format. Format meaning the lay out of a media file.
When files do not have the right format, there's a converter needed that will convert most (not all) files into the fitting state.

Look in the support site.
Consult the manual for the format a file should have.
Use the Media Converter to convert files, that can be and need to be converted first.

Same as others format not supported and need step by step instructions. Found device manager but don't know what I want to fix. Don't know how to change format to mp3 format either. Guess there should be...

I'm going to do my best, but understand that I have answered this same question - I'm not kidding - thousands of times, so I'm tired:
1. Music files come in several formats. The most common are mp3, wma, aac (iTunes), wav, and ra.
2. All GoGear's recognize mp3 format. Some GoGears' (like the SA6045) recognize protected WMA's, and some do not. No GoGear's recognize iTunes yet.
3. To avoid belaboring this point - only download songs in mp3 format. Any other music format will give you constant headaches if you are an mp3 dummy. It is harder, more expensive to download true mp3 files, but they will last forever. Every other musical format either: a) will not work with your GoGear, or b) will give you some kind of problem down the road.

I want to delete songs from my mp3 player when i put the songs on it they are now on there2-3 times

First, diasble the auto-sync feature in Windows Media Player - there is a great explanation on how to do this on Microsoft's own website, so I'm not going to rehash it.

Second, delete every song off your player. You can even run a Repair in Philips Device Manager if it will let you, because that will have the side effect of starting your player from scratch.

Third, reload only songs that are in mp3 format or DRM-free WMA (preferably Mp3).

Fourth, since you asked how to delete songs, here is my answer:

How can I delete things that show up on my mp3 but not on my computer?

You probably have your Windows Media Player set up for AUTOMATIC instead of MANUAL synchronization. When this option is selected,Windows Media Player will add EVERY song, picture, etc from your Library on your computer to the GoGear. Now, every time you sync you device, it adds every new file from your computer into the GoGear automatically.

Here's what you want to do (this process assumes you have Windows Media Player 11 and windows XP - if you have another version, just let me know and I will give you modified instructions - reply to the FixYa website, not to my personal e-mail address):
1) Backup all files stored on your GoGear, as this process will delete all files from your GoGear
2) Go into Windows Media Player 11 with your GoGear connected to the computer (it will automatically sync and add new files one last time), move the mouse cursor over to the sync tab; a small black arrow will appear under the word "Sync"; click on the small black arrow and a dropdown menu will appear; select "Portable media device" from the dropdown menu, and another dropdown menu will appear; select "Set Up sync"; a window will appear with some information on your device - uncheck the box that says "Sync this device automatically"; click Finish; This will eliminate the problem of Windows always adding songs/files you don't want into your player.

As for some files not being viewable, try simply disconnecting the GoGear from the computer and resyncing with Windows Media Player. sometimes files will be displayed multiple times, and a simple resyncing will cure the problem. Otherwise:
You must use Windows Media Player to delete songs from the GoGear. With your GoGear connected to the PC, you want to highlight (single left click) the icon of the GoGear (or line that says Philips GoGear blah blah blah) on the left hand side of Windows Media Player 11 - this will ensure that you are deleting files from the GoGear itself, and not the computer. Once the GoGear line is highlighted, click on the "Songs" or "Album" folder underneath the GoGear line (NOT the "Songs" or "Album" folder underneath the "Library"). This will bring up a list of songs stored on the GoGear into the middle pane of Windows Media Player 11. Highlight (single left click) a song you want to delete and press the delete button on your computer's keyboard. windows USUALLY gives you a prompt asking if you really want to delete the files/they will be permanently removed from your (GoGear) device. Congratulations, you have just deleted songs from your GoGear! :-)
