Homelite strin trimmer head wont rotate

I have Homelite UT-20002-A. The cutting head wont rotate. Took it apart and where the flexible wire shaft plugs into engine looks fine. The flexible shaft rotates, but is somehow disconnected at the trimming head. I cant figure out how to access the bottom of the metal shaft. Can I re-attach the flexible shaft down there or is it fused at the factory? Cant tell at Homelite website. Thank you

The only way to access the bottom of the metal shaft is to break it. This is fused on at the factory. It sounds like your flexshaft has twisted in two. Remove the flex shaft from the engine end and see if it is in one whole piece or is damaged in someway. If it rotates at the top but doesn't rotate at the string head this is probably the problem. However, Homelite no longer offers just the flex shaft for purchase. You would probably have to purchase the shaft and the tube as a unit.
But if you are saying the spool and string is not turning at the bottom it could be that the cup which holds the string has worn and can not longer be turned by the shaft. Replace the cup that holds the string.
Another possibility is that the shaft have moved forward, away from the engine and just need to be jammed back in, and retightened (the handle grip and the boom clamp).

After starting a trimmer, Husqvarna 128LDX, motor runs fine, but trimmer head wont rotate with any power , or velocity.

A couple of things here, are you sure the two halves are securely together? if yes you need to check the squares of the drive shafts at both ends, these are flexible drive shafts squared into the gearbox at the bottom, and into the drive drum at the top, if they have rounded off they will slip and stop altogether if the trimmer head is loaded up.

How do I remove the cutting head on my homelite HLT=15

http://www.ereplacementparts.com/homelite-hlt15-ut20602-string-trimmer-parts-c-18807_20299_21185.html

Here is a diagram of it. It is reverse threaded so you have to turn it like you was tightening it to loosen it. Clockwise looking at it from the bottom of the head. But there is a clutch that will let the whole thing turne. The best way is to remove the shaft from the weedeater and hold the shaft with some vice grips. Or you may be able to hold it right above the head, before the shaft tube.

Flex shaft came loose inside aluminum curved shaft

Here's a link to the homelite parts catalog site online.
You'll need your model # to look up exploded parts diagram for your trimmer, but you should be able to get any of the parts you need there.
On the other hand, depending on your location, a local repair shop, tool rental business or even a small auto or machine shop might be happy to do the repair and order the parts for you. I'd make some inquiries first, though, as at that point a new trimmer might be cheaper...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
