I installed a Leviton 6631-LW slide dimmer- the indicator light on the switch itself is on showing that the connection is good, but the actual light doesn't go on- what did I do wrong? Previously there was just a regular light switch.
The light on the switch does not men it is wired correctly, it only means that you have supplied power at that point. Without knowing more its hard to say, but I'll assume this is a single switch operating a single unit. That being the case, and depending on your fixture, occassionally wires must be grouped together on the switch side. Also quite often these switches are simply defective, and must be returned. If you think you have it correct then its probably a bad switch.

Thank you! The original switch connection had only two wires- one for the ground, and the other was connected to the two other wires coming from the wall. The new switch had three wires to connect- the ground, and then I just seperated the two other wires... should i try to leave one of the switch wires with no connection and connect the two wall wires together?
