You have to use the TV remote to set the TV sound option to external. Look on TV setup menu for 'external output' or 'external speakers'.

Lost the remote to my philips HTL2101A and it has no power button, so i can't use a programmable remote.

It should still be possible to use a universal remote to power on your TV.

Some universal remote instructions will say that the device has to be turned on in order to properly program the remote. This is not necessarily true, and you should still be able to use the universal remote to find a preset that will at least turn your TV on so you can then follow the instructions for the remote to find the exact preset that will work with every button on the remote.

First, look in the instruction booklet of the universal remote for the section of preset codes. It should be a huge list of 3-5 digit numbers with corresponding device names. There should be at least one or several for Philips devices. Find the code that matches your device.

Then, follow the instructions to program in that code. Should be something like: Hold down a certain button until the light on the remote blinks. Enter the code. Press another button to program the remote for that code. Keep in mind every universal remote is different and will have different steps to follow, but all generally work the same way.

At this point you'll want to just try the POWER button on the remote. If your TV turns on it means the code you entered is the correct code, or at least close to the right one. If it's not the exact correct code some of the other buttons won't work or will command your TV to do the wrong thing.

If your TV does not turn on with the first code you tried, you will need to program the remote with on of the other Philips codes. Just follow the same instructions you used to enter the first code and try another one from the list. Try the POWER button with each of the codes used until the TV turns on.

If none of the Philips codes work you will need to follow the universal remote's instructions to cycle through all of the codes (I have had to do this before). There should be another section of instructions that tell you how to do this. Again, try the POWER button for every code until the TV turns on. Once the TV is on, you will want to follow the instructions for the remote as normal to find the exact code preset that will work correctly with your TV.

If all else fails you might want to purchase a remote that is at least newer than the TV you are trying to operate because an older universal remote may not have the correct preset for a newer device.

I hope this helps! Good Luck!

I need to replace my remote control - the one I have doesn't work-model No. 32PFL3504D/F7 Serial # DS1A0938295596

If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Check this site too. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.
