Green light flashes but funny noise comes up and no picture comes

I have a vizio P50HD plasma that is about 3-4 years old that stopped working today. The green light flashes when I turn it on, but nothing shows up on the screen. It makes funny noises when I press the input button. But then it just stops. I have tried unplugging the TV and holding down the power button, to no avail. And now that I think about it, over the last week I had noticed that every couple of minutes the picture would redden for a few momments. I thought it was something wrong with the cable, but maybe it is tied in with the TV. Any thoughts? I had been so pleased with Vizio I just purchased a new VIZIO for the bedroom, but it's only 32 inches and can't replace the 50 incher I have.

There are two possible problem that you may have. First, your main board may be defective (this is the cheaper of two evil) and second your sustainer boards (these are the two boards on the sides of the TV use to power up the screen). you can get parts from vizparts.com or vancebaldwin.com if you want to do it yourself. If you're not familiar with it, you can call ITI at 888-248-2708 and they could have a couple of techs go to your home and do it for you.

Y Sustain board is bad. Replace the board will fix it. If you have bought the TV from Costco, then give them a call. Because the TV may still under warranty. I have repair a lot of P50 model lately and all of them still under warranty.
