After very close inspection, I was able to read (with magnification) the worn data on the watch case which had the battery number inscribed.

I have not figured out how to open the casing lid to replace the battery, but the number for the battery you need should be engraved on the lid. Double check your own lid, but mine says that the battery is an SR621SW. I'm sure there are different brands that would match this number.

All you can do now is to buy exactly the same replacement battery and you will never get it wrong. All that matters is the combination of letters and numbers on battery. In case if you lost your original watch battery, check your watch instruction manual. If you lost both - battery and manual - then there is no other way, but to visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask for help. In your particular case I do not see the reason why you should find the battery, because any decent watchmaker has many different batteries in stock. All you have to do is to find your closest watch repair shop and ask watchmaker to replace the battery.
