SOURCE: stove won't stay lit!!

So, you cleaned the burner per the manual (or the one you looked at when visiting the appliance store,) and it still flames out right after coming on? Sometimes things catch in the works and there are a few methods to clear them out (e.g. at the controls) depending on the model. Beyond that,in order to disconnect the stove and check the inlet filters, you might want to call the appliance or gas co for a technician. No use having leaks, searching forever for the main shutoff valve, etc.

SOURCE: GE JVM1440BD Microwave hood lights don't work

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

If your relay is bad and you want to replace it yourself, it is part # 3501-001050 and you can find helpful exploded view diagrams of your microwave and order that part here.

Be sure to also do any needed circuit board repair with 30AWG wire to prevent it from doing worse damage if another bulb shorts.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

SOURCE: Ge microwave model JVM1190WY buttons work but does not cook

The problem you are having with your microwave is a common one. Not heating is a problem that can be caused by three things. I'll list the most common solution first, the magnetron that actually does the heating is what is making that noise and has gone bad. It is possible for you to also have a bad high voltage diode that has opened up, solution two, or solution three is the high voltage capacitor is not working properly as well. From my experience with microwaves I am positive that it is your magnetron that is bad. If you are not do it yourselfer you'll need to take it to a repair shop to replace. However, if you know how to use a screwdriver and can unplug a couple of wires with spade terminals on them, then you can take it off yourself, find another one and replace it the same way you took it off. The magnetron sits behind the control panel of your microwave but on top. It has cooling fins on it and has 2 terminals maybe three depending and make and model that plug into it. It has 4 screws that are easy to get to that actually holds it in place. If you do not have a good local source like an electronic parts supply place then you can find the right magnetron at www.mwoparts.com. Be sure you always unplug the microwave before touching or trying to take the he cover off and then when you take the magnetron off also.Good luck and God bless.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

Sometimes this will also affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inoperable or stuck on too.

In your case, it may just be a shorted dimming diode, a black diode usually located between the light relay and the connector.

(Not to be mistaken for the tinier red-bodied diode on the other side of the relay that protects the relay coil).

If it is shorted, you will have bright lights in both the bright and dim settings.

In case you or someone you know has the tools and experience to desolder and solder small components, the replacement rectifier diode is not critical and can be any of these:

1N4001, 1N4002, 1N4003, 1N4004, 1N4005, 1N4006, 1N4007, NTE116, or NTE125 some of which are available form Radio Shack.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.

Unlock frigidaire tove

Thank you for your inquiry, friend!

From the information you have provided your Frigidaire stove is not unlocking and you have shut it off at the breaker and pressed clear. You have performed the proper troubleshooting regarding your stove and it appears that you could have a possible problem with the door latch or control panel. I would recommend having a professional technician come out and complete a diagnosis and repair on your stove. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

Lights under microwave will not come on

When this happens, a lot of the time, it is because the the old bulb burnt up violently or it was unscrewed with the power still on to the unit and if the wires on the bottom of the bulb were twisted together, it probably blew a trace off of the back of the circuit board that supplies power to te bulbs. So either need to find someone to repair the circuit board or buy a new one if you can put it in, if not, need to call a servicer to replace it. But caution, thay are not cheap!!! Always unplug you microwave BEFORE replacing the bulbs!!!!!

Set time to cook and hit the start button and all that happens is a click like a relay immediately after pressing the start button. Also in the past the fan and turntable would occasionally come on when...

Bad door switch, look at the wires going to the switch and see if any look browned or like they were hot. Make sure each switch clicks when you push the plunger down and release it. I always replace the switch with one that has 1/4 inch terminals as they hold up much better then the ones with the smaller 3/16 terminals. Just beefier and better.

Microwave Buttons Not Working

The cycling of your electricity probably didn't hurt it.

Chances are moisture or grease has gotten into the controls. That can ruin the keypad.

The way to prevent that is to be sure you have the microwave's hood vent exhaust fan running whenever you are cooking on the stove top.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace the keypad yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
