First of all - you need to remove your existing memory card from the device
second - you need a usb cable that will connect the camera to your pc and that should do the trick.

SOURCE: How to transfer the video in Mini DV to my computer

I suggest getting the PCI IEEE 1394 also known as FireWire card. Most of the time these Firewire card comes with a Video editing software but verify because you will need some form of video editing s/w to record the video. After recording then you can edit it however you like and transfer to DVD/etc. Always a pain in the as to edit video. I've done it a couple of times. So have fun. I still have not manage to find a Video editing s/w that will do a 5.1 audio or multiple audio tracks (similar to switching between languages)

SOURCE: jvc gr-d395u video camcorder, move mini dv to computer

How it's supposed to work is to get a program that recognizes the camera, then the tape can be captures. Windows Movie Maker never supported it. In fact Microsoft doesn't even support it anymore. They have recommended using Pinncale Studio to work with DV cameras.

Once you install Studio, put the tape in, turn the camera on, Studio will load up.

SOURCE: memory format problem

First of all, check the lock button on the side of your sd card to make sure it's not in the lock position. If it's unlocked and you still cannot format the card, you can always format it on your computer via usb.

Can't play back videos on my experna; memory card Sandisk class 4 8Gb. Have a canon Vixia HFR10 camcorder

Okay, ours is a different brand (JVC) but they may have some basic similarities in function. To playback video clips stored on the memory card, put the memory card in the card reader slot of the computer and put the files onto the computer. Playback the clips from your computer video or photo file. (Ours won't playback video stored on the memory card through the camera.)

To playback video clips stored on the camera hard drive through the camera, we open the viewer screen, look at the function keys on the camera body, select the "Play" button. On the screen it displays thumbnails of the various video clips. We use the toggle/function key to select from the menu containing options for playback, edit, delete, protect, etc.

I have the memory card in the camera but it says I have no free memory and when I try to go thru my past photos it says no file. What do I do to fix it?

The solution for that is to use a removable memory and store the files there. There is not enough built in memory on your camcorder so it cannot store photos or files. I hope this advice help you solve your problem in camcorder.

How do i record to the memory card instead of to the built in memory?

Hi there,
During playback, use the joystick to select the tab corresponding to the type of recording you want to play back movies and photos and where they are recorded as well. Whether by the built in memory or a memory card.
Happy shooting!

Canon Legria HF200 SDHC Initialization problem

This totally sucks. I have a similar issue with my Canon Vixia HF R20 and I'm using a Lexar Pro 64Gb 133x SDXC card. When trying to initialize the card, its fails and says "Process terminated with error." It also says "check the memory card" when I first put it in. Write-protect is off. My other SanDisk class 4 SDHC card seems to work ok.
I could have sworn it worked before and I was able to transfer videos to my Mac on 10.6, but I can't remember for sure if I was using the SDXC card or just the built-in memory. Very frustrating.

I have reinstalled the software several times.

1. Get a memory card. 2. Format the new card in the camera. 3. Go into the camera menu and find an entry for "copy" or some similar topic which would allow you to copy the contents of your internal memory to your new memory card. Once the pics are on the memory card, you should be able to download them to your computer.

You need to take out the memory card or hard disk from camcorder, and then connect the memory card or hard disk to computer, you can then use asoftech data recovery software to recover lost videos.

Aiptek IS-DV Memory Full message when memory card is empty

Exactly the same thing happend to me with my brand-new Aiptek. Turns out it was the no-name brand SD card that I got from China which destroyed it. Aiptek was kind enough to replace it for free since it was under warranty. Aiptek's caution: Stick to brands like SanDisk, Dane-Elec, Kingston, Transcend or PNY. Purchase from resellers like Target, Best Buy, Newegg.com or Amazon.com. Avoid MINI & MACRO style cards. NO Sandisk Ultra II or Extreme III, class 6. AVOID Hi-SPEED!
