You should have get two cords, if you bought the monitor and the cpu, if you just only bought the cpu then you must buy a new cord .

Before your computer running fine, you just remove the fan and heat sink, and fix properly.

1) Check your VGA cable both of side fix properly
2) Check your Monitor power button is switch on.
3) Remove your RAM and fix again.

basically you have 1 screw that holds the side cover, that has to be removed after that side will come off and you have access to components, most of them are attached by clips.
